So far I can not say the screenshots excite me in wanting to play the game, BUT.........

Do feel that in motion it might be allot better then screenshots can display.

I hope so because some of those screenshots are terrible. That first one is really bad imo. I know they want to go for the "comic book" look but seriously I have only seen one batch of screens that looked really good. I can't say I am really excited about this game. Yeah, gameplay is king but I just can't get into a whonky looking game.

I loved CoX and played it a long time but this one has me stumped. I am really floored they went with this art direction. Just seems off to me.

I really want to like this game but so far I am not waiting on the edge of my seat.

Well I hear the cell shading is more or less a toggle in the options.Obviously some of the screenshots have it on and some don't.

WOW, that cell-shading is ABSOLUTELY atrocious......I pray it's togglable and that the non-cellshaded graphics are decent. Otherwise this looks to be an even WORSE repeat of COX, and that's truly saddening to me :(!

I don't know how much of the flexibility of the HERO rpg system will make it through into Champions Online, but if they pull through the amazing flexibility, variety and depth of the rpg system behind the pen and paper game then this will be a great game to play, no matter what its graphics (which look fine anyway; if I want beautiful to look at then I'll put on the Lord of the Rings movies).

That said, it's a pretty big "if" to pull through the flavor of P&P rpgs to MMORPGs - it can be done, but usually the online game ends up a shadow of the original.

They might however be able to pull it off, and if they can make an online system that can come even close to emulating the flexibility of the HERO rpg system then they will be able to re-skin it to not just the "bad guys" version of Champions but also to other settings such as Fantasy HERO.  While I am not going to get excited over this game yet, it's definitely one to watch with interest.

Yes the cell-shading is a toggle, so those concerned over it can switch it off.

I just love this screenshot of the Robot, it's far better than the robots in CoX, sleeker design, alot meatier in looks and it looks like it can do some serious damage.

I do like the look and feel of the CO graphics and from what I've seen so far I think it suits what they are aiming for, that comic book feel.

Ah, well that puts things into a new light...

If this is the case I would really like to see a few screen shots of the same content side by side of cell shading turned on in one and off in the other. Just to see what's what. If you can toggle it I don't know why they haven't done that before. If they did it would seem like it would calm those down (yeah, like me) who are not to impressed with the graphics so far.

I've had a quick look over the CO website and can't find any comparison screenshots, perhaps once the OB starts ppl will get a chance to see it for themselves with the toggle on/off.

Personally I like the look alot, I especially liked it on the cloaks I've seen, it gives them some real depth and substance rather than all the other cloaks I've seen in other MMO's.
