I grew more and more bored with each passing day, searching for a new game to play.  I tried many of the Free To Play games to no avail.  I read information about Earthrise, when it was in developemnt and up through launch.  I knew a number of players tried the game and confirmed my suspicions that it was in what I refer to as an unfinished state.  But I was bored, so I bought Earthrise for $29.90.

Going in, I knew this was a sandbox MMO.  I expected a pretty environment with little content, and very few players.  I have to say, that's pretty much on target - with some exception to the content.  The game itself seems to have standard MMO content so far, but it doesn't really tell you where it is.  Quest givers in the starting area allow you to repeat quests over and over and over, and there are no second step quests that I've seen yet.  Unlike other games I've played, quests here do not give you equipment.  You can spend a great many hours questing and killing creatures, and still be as strong as a newly created character (with exception to whatever skills you've purchased).  This was somewhat discouraging, though I knew this wasn't the standard class/level based game.  In fact, that's one of the design aspects of this game I looked forward to.

A friend and I decided to just wander in different directions and see what we could find about the area.  We both came across creatures and humanoids that were tougher than ourselves, but we navigated around them.  After some time exploring, we quickly learned that travel isn't limited to the standard routes of some popular games.  You can walk straight up mountain sides and find some unlikely paths to use, which allow you to completely bypass sections of mobs, and reach possibly unintended destinations for a new character.

All in all, I think this game should be in a closed Beta for it's current game state.  However, I am not whining about the game itself.  It, like many other games, has great potential.  Unfortunately, launching a game when it is in this kind of a state usually means the potential customers are turned off the product and may not give it a second chance when it is actually close to what I call a finished / launch-ready game.  Seriously, no friends list in the game?  MMOs are incredibly social games, and not implementing a friends list is just bad.

I intend to play the game to the end of the 30 days and try to see as much of the content as possible.  I think the developers are designing a good game.  If it survives, it should be fun to play one day.  By then, Guild Wars 2 and Star Wars: The Old Republic will be out.  So, I don't foresee this game ever reaching it's potential.

That's just my opinion.

In 5 years..when this gane is finally out of payed beta testing with enough minimal quality and content to be sold to costumers..it will be already too late...because its a 5 y old game already..and new , fresh and better ones will be out.

Same thing I bought the game yesterday, and the game looks like it has good promise, but the problem with the game is the FPS lag, Drivers which you don't need to install like Physx when you are using an ATI Card. I mean on this game I get around 10 FPS sometimes 15 if I am lucky running low, or max settings they need to fix this game, add effects to the weapons, monster sounds it lacks content, the game looks like a fail version of Tabula Rasa from my place experience which isn't much, and the loading times are like big like worse than DarkFall if you think waiting in that game is bad.

I brought the game the other day for £9.99 thought it was worth a shot for that kinda cash..

Anyway ive only managed to play a few horus so far tis just not pulling me in at all, the combat is qutie boring really adn the world seems empty..

I knew the game was bug ridden before i brought it, but wow there are so many things not worknig correctly even down to the client.. i run win 7 x64 and whenever i click an option in the client the client crashes lol but that option still runs..

The game world looks ok and some of the graphics are really nice but others are just nasty..

Anyway ill try and play out my 30 days but i cant see me sticking around much longer unless somthing good in the game.

Have you considered to leave newbie island and to explore the main area?

I've explored a bit.  What area are you referring to as newbie island?

Well after you move from Librarium you go to small newbie island, where you can mostly train your skills on moving targets. After that you need to find a teleport to the main land, where the actual game starts (the area with the ghosted ship). After that try to search for guides in forums how to explor the entire continent.

Ah, I exited the Librarium directly into the Northern Road Camp of the mainland.  I never played on Exodus Island.

yea listen more to KOTOPAK, hes the only Closed Beta tester who stayed in the game up untill now, probably because they pay him or he is close friends with Ostiak-the only person left from the dev team, every single one has left this POS

If you hate this game so much why are you posting on every thread??? I mean do people sit there and  hate on games you like??? Everyone likes Different games, I like ER, sadly the OP is spot on, ER should of been a good game.

What is lacking is when a game does noy support mulithreading and textures are not loading properly. This is a big issue in ER, also they should of had many things  out before release.

Sadly I think I am really the only CB tester that still plays the game. Even I stopped playing for a month due to the lag, when multiple people/mobs shoot in close area. I am still not active, but the main problem for me (hopefully) is gone with the build I played on test server.

I wouldn't rrecommend people to buy the game, but it definatelly will worth a try when TW will be released in live servers. There will be free trial and reactivation and everyone can judge for himself. I understand what M4co wanted to say - when I was little kid, I used the same expressions. I am sure when he grows up he will start to behave like an adult too.
