but all i've seen are some screenshots. there doesn't appear to be any videos. and this game is coming out in a year?

this game looks like another darkfall to me. just promises and the occasional pretty screenie.

Except Darkfall has done that for over 5 years ( 7 if you count the first 2 years before they decided to "redo" everything ). So this one still gets a little more leeway than Darkfall.

still anyone can make some screen of pretty enviroments. that does not mean it is a game. As good as this game sounds I'm not gona ride the hypewagon until I at least see some ingame videos.

Look, it is a game from a indy development team, with that said, they will need some more time than a major company with 150+ developers and almost unlimited funding. Yes.. Earthrise will most probably not release next year, and even 2010 is doubtful.. but to say it is vaporware is just ridiculous.

And dont expect one million advertising and hype vids like from AoC or WAR.. it will not happen, they have not the funding, they have not the enormous amount of developers, and they have most probably something better to do with their time and their money. And they have not a PR department which is as huge as a lot of indy team in a whole.

So give them a break, and let them develop their game, and let them show us what they have, when they are ready for it. No patience nowadays, but not a need for a hypewagon either, estimate it, when it is actually released.. and not 3 years before.. because no game will come close to the hype before...

I can smell people looking to condemn that which they know nothing about. Be patient, eventually they will release more information.

Are they importing vaporware believers in to the MMO community now??

Why cant all of them just get a own game or something? Maybe all developers should stop making MMOs, since some people cant stand the idea of not knowing everything about everything.

Relax, its a small developer trying to make a good game....compared to all big companys making bad games  : )

but your argument is flawed. you do not need tons of funding to make a video of the game. nor would it take tons of time. you need money and time to make the content, yes. but just to film a bit and put onto the internet would be relatively effortless.

they should move thier realease date now if theres no hope they'd make it. until they do that they won't get my sympathy as they are claiming to have this finished in a year.

The game is not vaporware.  Beta starts this fall.  Masthead Studios just announced the hiring of SpeedTree to do their ingame foliage.  SpeedTree did the foliage for GTA IV.

Not the most interesting thing ever about game development but this comes on the heels of their announcement of hiring Scaleform to do their UI.

Both companies are the absolute best in their fields.  Check out the press releases for Scaleform.

ER is right on schedule at the moment.  This is not some incompetent indie dev team.

I think it is too early to cry foul

Personally I dig what they are up to  

this game just started advertising this year. Darkfall has been in development for 5-7, If this game doesnt come out by next year then i will call it vaporware, it is way too early in development to tell if its vaporware or not.

Neither was darkfall called for release just one year and a half after it's announcement.

Anyhow - I don't think this game will release in 2009, maybe in 2011.
