Tabula Rasa was the MMO that was going to raise standards, but so far i see nothing. I doubt this will be much differnt. |

At the very least it'll be a great sandbox which is all I'm really looking for. |

I think Earthrise is one of the new MMOs showing there is something else then WoW clones. Right now the only game that dare to be different is EVE. As soon all major MMO companys get that we are different kind of players......we will be in MMO heaven : ) |

I think if they do it right it could be great. Who knows.. it's hard to tell until they launch it forever from now, but I love where their design is taking them. |

But yes, ER I believe is raising the standards in quite a few ways, as long as there isn't a Darkfall prowling. But I'm hoping it won't be that way. |

It is all vaporware until I see it go live! |
Originally posted by Rob_dc84 I dunno. Full PVP looting, been done before, promised by DF. Custom toons, you mean skill based, see UO, EVE etc, daily type jobs, welcome to WOW. All I see from this game so far is... Darkfall. If they get the game built, and as you said, in good shape, then sure, it will be a nice sandbox type alternative and I'm looking forward to playing it. (or any game along this same path) But as I said... "IF"

Bitefight links are not referalls, they are the way to gain xp in the game. |
The mmo standards has a different meaning thatn it used to, MMO's used to be niche, marketed for a very closed crowd, but now that the floodgates have opened to the mainstream popculture the standard is to try to make an mmo as broad as possible to appeal to as many as people possible, if this game tries to capture the old school style of standards in an mmo it will be a niche game at best and probably have a very likeminded following, but we'll see when it comes out. I hope for myself that it will be challenging, but we all know what happens to anything challenging these days, they get changed quickly to suit even the simpelest of players, causeing a rift in the playerbase, those who dont like change and those who just come in and say cool this game is casual enuff for me to play while i juggle 3 kids and a job, and then those 2 sides start butting heads about how is what and how what should be. |

| when you have a bitefight link to your vampire to bite people the mods will warn you it is a referall link, it is not a referall, it is the way you get xp in the game by bighting people |

To KyleRan: I guess you have the wrong idea about jobs in ER. Your job isn't a warrior, a warlock, or anything of the sort. It is a job to directly hinder or benefit the community via player interaction and use of skills. There will also be more "jobs" as you say than in WoW. They are already looking into multiple jobs just to heal other people and their equipment. Too Boognish: Yes they are going to be trying to appeal to a certain group of players, but it isn't going to appeal to all players. This is mostly attracting AO, SWG, PS, N2, and other players from the scifi-based MMO's. It is also directed to having even people who can't play hours a day to still have a part in ER with the offline advancement. To be profitable they are going to try and get enough players to make their efforts worth it but yes, they are targeting a select group of players. |

Originally posted by volfae OK, that sounds a bit different, but still sounds like being given quests daily that involve more player interaction and skill use. But you are correct, I haven't read up too much on them yet, since they remain in what I call the "vision" phase. We'll see how they actually turn out when implemented.
