Nexon America has partnered with MMORPG.com for this exclusive developer journal detailing the forthcoming 'Classic Update' to their free-to-play MMO, Mabinogi. The update adds a new Puppeteer talent, new mount, and also includes changes to Mabinogi's wedding system in order to incorporate same sex marriages between players.

In addition to opening up a new storyline mirroring the events of the famous tragedy, today's update also introduces a Theatre missions, the Destiny class system, all new skills and more.

The 'Starlight Scepter' is now available and 50% of the proceeds from the sale of these scepters will be sent directly to the Starlight Children's Foundation. The Starlight Scepter will remain for sale for the next year. In addition, 100% of proceeds from the sale of the Mabinogi soundtrack on iTunes will be donated to the Starlight Children's Foundation.

With the introduction of Farmland, players can now rent their own plot of land for a week at a time and grow their own crops, which are said to be a great source of income. With rewards being touted as "great" and plots of land being limited, it's easy to see how this would make sense.

There will be some server-specific surprises to be had and Nexon isn't sharing any details in that regard (after all, it wouldn't be a surprise then, would it?!) Players can get to the moon of Eweca by enlisting the help of a "special friend," and those who make it to Eweca will find that it is full of giant moon bunnies, tiny cows and even a dancing panda.

Today, we have some details and screenshots on a new zone that will be introduced to the game with the same update. The new zone is called Taillteann Town, and it will allow players to set up personal shops to sell their items as well as socialize with each other.
Reported on Jan 28, 2010Nexon has announced that they will be adding an additional five new Alchemy skills to the game in addition to the currently available Magic Combat and Life Skills skillsets. The new abilities include: HP Drain, Wind Blast, Water Cannon, Barrier Spikes, and Summon Golem. Alchemists can also use their skills to temporarily charge crystals for other non-Alchemist players to use.
