PROS: Very immersive (with things like weight gain from certain foods, campfires, grocery stores, aging, and things of that nature) Combat (is very fun and intuitive. there are lots of different combos you can utilize and it is all based on a critical thinking strategy. it really is one of the best combat systems out there in an MMO) Quests (at least in the early stages 1-18 questing is pretty fun and give great rewards. cant really level up otherwise. too bad you can't share quests. and best of all half the quests are automatically given to you by a bird from time to time....hell yeah!) Character customization and graphics (well partially the graphics are a pro. character design is really nice considering it has an anime feel which is a great change from traditional mmos like everquest and swg that try really hard to make it as real as possible. characters look great and customization is fairly robust. the graphics mainly only suck in dungeons and some terrain.) Addicting (it is pretty addicting for a game of its caliber. its fun and intuitive. kinda like the good ole days of diablo 2, except kinda corny and childish in a sense, but not too much to detract from gameplay or immerisveness. Music (the music is pretty good, at least in certain areas it can be remarkable. the introduction song is great when you log on. it isnt orchestrated really, but for what it is it has a pretty good melody for most songs. also adds to the immersion factor)
CONS:
No share quest feature (only if your lucky or intentional play at the same pace as someone else will you get to do a quest with a friend) this by no means, means that questing is not fun or grouping is not effective or fun either. a lot of the quetss if you want to get them done early and get the real nice xp bonus you're probably going to need at least a couple other people. Graphics (mainly the graphics on the terrain are what suck especialy in dungeons. dungeons are incredibly bland and boring to walk through and feature the same rooms, just in a different order (random generation)) Questing....(questing is great until questing stops at like level 18. its at that point you only get like 1 or 2 quests at a time which are barely enough to get by.) Content kind of takes a dive after level 18 as well. Everything gets back into a grind feel at that point and slows down to a snails pace. I dont know if that is because they intentionally sucked you in for the first 18 levels just to get you to keep playing, i dont know. After 18 your pretty much stuck either crafting (if thats your niche) or constantly running the same dungeon by yourself for xp and loot. it gets kinda old. Lack of skills and abilities all together. In the beginning its lik ehere are a ton of abilities, but once you hit level 30 you realize there isn't that much to it and it won't take you THAT long to get to level 30. At level 18 your pretty much acquired to the main abilities and its just where you put your points.
Things that would really make it shine:
Player housing would. It would be a nice feature to have people be able to decorate their homes and have people over or whatever. A safehaven for immersion and a change of pace is all. Share quest feature would be nice. Kind of sucks to have to do everyone's quests seperately. More equipment and items to buy as you progress. Right now the equipment that you can buy is kind of limited. Around level 15 youll probably find a couple different sets of clothes to wear and by 18 youll get a tricolored robe. the gear that is in the game alerady is great and looks great, but once you get to level 18 there isnt much to buy that is affordable for another like 10 levels because the prices of gear just sky rocket. Bazaar or Auction House would work great for getting crafters products onto the market. this would flourish the economy. More abilities. Once you get past level 30 you pretty much have all the abilities that youc an pick from and its just where you put your points that is the deciding factor. More abilities, spells, and skills would be great for variety and diversity. A card game of sorts. I know this sounds really stupid and most times i am completely opposed to such stupid gimmicks, but i feel like if there was a half-way descent card game in this game that you can gamble and make money off of with other players i think that would help people be able to make money and help add to immersion. I'm thinking something japanese oriented almost like a pokemon game or something stupid like that or hell Magic the Gathering oriented. Just somethign to break it up and have somethign else to do.
All in all: This game is deffinetly worth trying if you can get past or like the cartoonish graphics. Its F2P as far as i know and i think its deff worth it to just check it out. It makes for a great time sink and you dont need to put in a lot of time at once if you dont feel like it. the game is extremely flexible. Just dont set your expectations too high is all. The only reason i say that is because mine were kind of low to begin with, but was pleasently surprised.

This game really had me for a while. From the cutesy graphics to the immersion to the suggestion of a skill-based system. But then quests stop and progression comes to an utter halt. No new skills pop up. And the mouse controls get grating once the charm wears off. There seems to be more content to the game, but considering the way the game advances rapidly to level 18 and then stops, it's not very encouraging to reach it. I think if killing stuff provided anywhere near as much experience as quests did, this game could do pretty well. The rebirth system seems fairly interesting and I'd even be willing to spend the cash to do it, but if it takes this long to get to level 20 from 18 killing stuff, I'd hate to see what it's like trying to get to level 20 without quests. PS: This game is probably piss-easy to macro: Get Autohotkey to ctrl-click-click every 5 seconds in an area with the foxes. Just like all of the other bots running around. |
