if you want something for the time you wait for aoc here the best game :)

The World of Ethergia beckons to worthy Temperions to challenge the horrors that walk Ethergia’s lands. An opportunity to take up this challenge is coming on May 15, 2008.

We will begin our Open Beta test on May 15, 2008 at 7pm PDT. This Open Beta test session will be open to all currently registered accounts as well as all the new Temperions that decide to join us.

All accounts and characters will be reset prior to this test session and will be placed in a new starting zone called Truba Island.

The new Requiem game client, which is available on our Client Download Section, is necessary to play during the Open Beta test.

Please note that this is still part of the beta testing process, and as such, does not fully represent the final product. Players who participate during this period may experience some lag or connection issues as we work to fine-tune and optimize our server capacity.

If you have questions, comments or wish to stay updated on the progress of the Beta Test please Register for news and notifications or check our Forums.

awesome, i want to check this game out. I like the idea of the DNA system because i like being able to customize my character so that i feel like he is different than other people my class/level, plus it just looks neat. I have heard mixed reviews from my friends who were in the closed beta though. Im guessing it's a newer client, because they said new starting area..im just not sure how much time they had to fix it up.

edit:

the closed beta ended april 17, here is the list of things the site said they were planning to add

  • New Starting areas
  • New Raid opportunities and challenges
  • New Instanced Dungeons
  • Guild wars
  • Over 250 new Quests ranging from all levels
  • New Race options
  • New Equipment options and appearances
  • Enhanced Magic weapon damage
  • Enhanced Auction house
  • Monster AI improvement
  • Expanded Reinforced weapon visual effects
  • And so much more....

I wonder how much of this they got to...or if they had been working on it while the closed beta was going on and did not add it so they could avoid adding more bugs to what they were trying to fix... guess we will see.

Live Life today, Because tomorrow is but a dream and yesterday only a
memory!

The only thing i dont like about this game is the size of the client, everything else is cool.

DNA System

What is DNA?
Each character can upgrade the strengths of its job, or minimize its drawbacks, by using the DNA system. Users can control the evolution of their characters by reorganizing its DNA. This customization option allows a variety of possible character builds sharing the same race and job.
Use of DNA System
Users can arrange DNA into 5 DNA Slots. The DNA system can
1. Enhance the inherent strengths of the character's job.
2. Minimize the character's drawbacks.
3. Maximize property related abilities.
Hidden Function of DNA System
A hidden DNA bonus will occasionally appear when all 5 of a character's DNA Slots are filled.
The addition of the bonus DNA makes a total of 6 possible DNA enhancements for each character.
New Skill Via DNA System
A new skill will occasionally become available when reorganizing DNA. This new skill can be used immediately.

Looked pretty decent, although I dont think ima play it since AoC will be out two days later (for Early Access). May give it a try once it's released though.

I don't usually say this, but this asian grindfest might not be half bad.

I played this game during the CBT.

The combat system, animation (gore + ragdoll) and gfx are the best I have seen in a f2p mmorpg and I have tried everything..

The little PvP I tried seemed good although the class balance was way off.

If they really have added 250 quests I will give it another try, otherwise the grind is too much past lvl 30.

Oh, and the instanced dungeons are very refreshing.

what i didnt like at first sight is that all the races and classes are pretty much lineage 2 clone.

they even look the same.

I think it was more because when this went in development in 2001, that type of class system was popular in Korea.  In 2003 Lineage II was released, so its hard to really say its a direct copy considering most of the concept stage happened earlier then this date.

I am a little skeptical on exactly how much of what they said they are aiming to put in the game actually was put in.  Its only been a month and such things usually take much longer to develop properly.  Obviously, some of it is imported stuff.  But a bit of it is fresh stuff actually being developed in the States just for this version.

Graphics and combat are typically always done well in Korean titles.  Usually the downfall is the point and click which isn't in this, and the lack of content or linear progression.  Like Granado Espada.
