Well, in the economic down-turn (fancy way of saying that I'm out of a f'n job), I have resorted to looking into some Free MMORPGs. So, I've downloaded Perfect World and now I'm working on downloading this. For those who have played MMOs for a while, what are your impressions of these two games? If it truly does suck (as a lot of posters seem to report) what is a decent Fantasy-style MMO? Thanks and catch ya later! |

It makes me feel very festive.

My impression of Fiesta is mostly a negative one. PWI, however, was fun. It had more customization than Fiesta and their cash shop wasn't screwed up like Fiesta's is. There are better and more interesting classes in PWI and each starts out somewhere different while everyone starts out at the same place in Fiesta. Fiesta also seems to have more glitches and frankly...I don't think OS gives a crap about its gamers. If I had to choose, I'd pick PWI over Fiesta any day.
And just in case someone says something about level or experience...I played Fiesta for about six months and reached level sixty before I just got tired of it. What did me in was the drama, there was way too much. |

While I agree with most (if not all of those reasons) I do know one thing. Fiesta is way more casual gamer-based whereas Perfectworld is FAR more veteran hardcore gaming based. |

I've tested out PWI and I played fiesta for a year. I got bored of PWI after 1 week of playing. The problem with PWI, for me, was there was way too much running at lower levels, so running ended up taking 50% of the playing time. The biggest turn off and the reason why I didn't even bother continue playing anymore was when I saw a person use their sword to fly into the air and kill everything. Items were floating in the air along with all the monsters. Yes, the idea of flying in the air and fighting in the air seems awesome but it also ruins the gameplay. If you plan to play PWI, be prepare to read enough information on classes and build. Its a more complicated system compare to fiesta. PWI is a much more skilled game compare to fiesta which is a very casual game.
Fiesta, kept me playing for 1 yr, before I left. The game play is very straight forward and easy. Unlike most MMORPG w/ skill trees that allow you to customize which one to level up and which one to keep at 1. Fiesta allows you to level up every skill, and gives you the ability to empower the skills (lower cooldown time, sp usage, length of skill time, and max power). Its a different way to customize your sklls but compare to other MMORPG, requires less time to research before playing. Also, I have never had any encounters w/ hackers (for exp based). Of course there are tons of spammers which they fail to get rid of but this is one of the rare games that you don't see ANY hackers around. Fiesta has tons of quests for a free MMORPG, along with kingdom quests that provide great entertainment every hour or 2.
My suggestion is if you are looking for a more complicated and experienced game that require thinking, research and reading then PWI is the way to go. If you don't feel like thinking too much and still have an enjoyable time then fiesta is good to go. If you the default graphics for fiesta makes you puke, i suggest u remove the outline on the characters... MUCH better)
Hope this helps. |

I've been playing Fiesta off and on for a while now, but I still must say, once you start, you will be hooked for a while. I like the ease of use, but I do wish the lag wasn't so heavy. I've fallen inside the new Tower instance too many times, and I'm the healer of the group half the time. This game reminds me a lot of WoW, which is why I had a blast with it, but I wish there were a few more choices in terms of character classes and maybe races. The only down-side is the crafting system. YOu need to really level up your stuff early on if you want to get anywhere with it. Replenishing mana and health is a heavy bourdon, but not impossible, since most of the enemies you defeat drop HP and SP potions. All in all, I highly recommend this free-based (item shop system) MMORPG to anyone who's a casual MMORPG fan and maybe even hardcore fans of the genre. |
