Fiesta Online Interviews: Expedition to Adealia Expansion Interview

MMORPG.com recently interviewed Daniel Chang, Fiesta Online Senior Product Manager, to discuss the soon-to-be released, massive expansion of Outspark's flagship free-to-play Anime MMORPG. Read on and enjoy.

By William Murphy on December 17, 2011

MMORPG.com:

For those of our readers who don't know much about it, can you give a description of Fiesta in your own words?

Daniel Chang:

Fiesta is a thriving anime-themed MMO where millions of players get together to form lasting bonds and explore the wonderful realm of Isya. Well known for its spirited party scene, Fiesta is first and foremost a social experience heightened by action-packed gameplay.

MMORPG.com:

It seems somewhat crazy that you guys are already adding a brand new chunk of content in Fiesta: Expedition To Adealia. What prompted this expansion?

Daniel Chang:

The expansion has been in the works for a while as we are always looking at ways to deliver improved systems and interesting content to our fans.

MMORPG.com:

What are the main features of the expansion and are these the sorts of things players have been asking for since the game launched?

Daniel Chang:

The main features of the expansion are the level cap raise which is increasing to 115, over 100 quests at launch with more being added, and a vast new region on the map that is the world of Adealia. Players will enjoy exploring the scenic shoreline of the Kahal plains filled with waterfalls and whimsical safari creatures, the cheery Adealia Village, and the darkness that is Psiken Garden which includes a multi-leveled mansion with ghosts, vampires, and vicious mini-bosses. The expansion also introduces some unforgettable characters like the zombie girl who spawns a rabid dog when attacked and a wicked fire-breathing winged Chimera with serpent's tail whose three terrifying heads are that of a dragon, a lion and a goat.

MMORPG.com:

What is the expansion about? How does it fit into the world of Fiesta?

Daniel Chang:

Because you asked, I'll tell you the backstory with some never-before-heard detail. Long ago, a team of explorers came to Adealia to establish a great settlement with the natives.  Jealous of their peaceful sanctuary, the thieving Doomed Elves, consumed by an insidious evil, begin to encroach upon their land to menace them. During that winter, what is now known as the Winter of the Wolf, a dark force appeared and destroyed the Adealia Valley, driving their visionary leader, Abalita, to wage war and make the ultimate sacrifice to preserve the population. To this day, Abalita is the patron saint of Adealia and his remnants live on inside the protective tree that canopies the Adealia Village. This is why the Adealians have such a deep, symbiotic relationship with their natural surroundings and why, when you explore Adealia Village you'll see animal-shaped hedges dotting the perimeter of town and a sparkle in the flowers.

MMORPG.com:

How will the classes be affected by the level cap increase? I assume there will be a bunch of new spells and the like?

Daniel Chang:

There will be 10 new skills with one per each subclass, 25 new mobs, and a host of crazy monsters to battle.

MMORPG.com:

Are there any new gameplay features with the expansion as well, or is it mainly a "new zones and new levels" sort of vertical expansion?

Daniel Chang:

Yes, Fiesta: Expedition To Adealia is a vertical expansion with new zones and new levels, and there will be a staggered release of new gameplay features coming soon.

MMORPG.com:

What's your own favorite part of the expansion, if you had to pick? No cheating.

Daniel Chang:

Getting into Adealia. Without giving too much away, it's hands down my favorite experience. We literally sat there going into and out of town for a good 30 minutes when we first got our hands on it.

MMORPG.com:

Lastly, what's the one thing that you personally feel Fiesta needs to do better in the future, and how is this expansion helping it towards that goal?

Daniel Chang:

There's a lot planned for Fiesta as we extend the franchise and provide hundreds of hours more of good times for our fans. For newbies first learning about Fiesta, there's never been a better time to join the adventure. Play now for free at http://fiesta.outspark.com/expansion.
