A game that breaks the rules...

Want to see a game that breaks all the rules of current MMORPGs? Read on my friend... read on.

Entropia Universe

This MMORPG/Sandbox (game, i used the term lightly), has broken all the rules of MMORPGs currently on the market.

You will read reviews stating that it's nothing but a casino disguised as an online MMO. While, I guess in some regards this may be somewhat true, the game itself is far beyond anything else available, for free, to play online.

Here is my personal take on the 'game' itself.

I have been playing Entropia Universe on and off for over 7 years now. And during my off time, I spend it doing other things to allow myself fresh views and changes for when I return to it.

The biggest draw of this game, for me, is not the dream of making real money in game. You can do it, it has been done. But for me, it's the game environment itself. By far, this is the most stunningly, beautiful game I have ever had the pleasure of laying my eyes on. I can't tell you how many time I wished the planets, it's vegitation and creatures actually existed.

The soundscape, the soundtrack, the game f/x, everything is just amazing. Rendered in the famous CryEngine Game Engine, the game just keeps getting more and more beautiful.

Keeping that in mind, do not let the nay sayers throw you off this game. There will be some who say that it's all a ruise to make money. Well of course it is, that is why they are in business. To make money. Mindark, the parent company and developers of Entropia Universe, are not in the business to make you money. However, for a lucky few, it has happened.

There are many diverse ways to engross yourself in the game, from professions, to just the simple character creation. You can craft, mine, hunt, PvP, Heal, drive cars, fly shps, go into space, etc. Heck if you are brave enough and have the money, then become a planet partner and develop your own planet within the Entropia Universe.

The Cons of this game? Well there are ones that are similar to other MMORPGs, like lag issues, graphics glitches, client loder hangs, etc. Scammers, yup, just like every other game.

Q: I've heard you can play this game totally free and actually get somewhere in it?

A: Yes, you sure can. It will take a while if you do it all by yourself. If you are part of a group of friends, then a shorter amount of time. In a society, shorter still.  Don't get me wrong, if you want to spend the money, you can, but it can get addictive very easily if you keep thinking about the big payout. If you keep a frame of mind that you are there for the long haul and to have fun, then you can survive on very little depositing or no depositing at all.

Q: Can you really withdrawl money into the real world?

A: Yup, you sure can. It's not going to happen over night, unless you are in a relationship with a golden genie.

Q: What else can I own inside of EU?

A: How about an apartment?

Q: I can get that in Second Life, for a lot less money.

A: Yes you can, but you are not limited to how many objects you can have in there, or limited by the size of your land. You get a very stylish apartment, in a stylish apartment building, in one of the most beautifully designed environments in the industry.

Conclusion: The game is what you make of it. If you can think of ways of making money in game, that are new and fresh, the game allows for it. Use some creativity and you'd be surp[rised what you can do in game.
