Shadow of Legends is one of those online games that you quickly get addicted to. You create a character and their class then decide whether they join the good side or the evil side. Humans and Elves are the good guys of the game and the Orcs and Dwarves are the evil guys.
Once in the game you build your character by going on quests and by monster bashing. You are free from PK upto level 40.
There are different paths or careers your character can take depending on their class. For example a Warrior can become an Elite Guarder, Champion Warrior, Flaffer or Barbarous Tyr.
If you manage to reach level 90 you can join in the rebirth system where your character eventually becomes even more powerful.
To buy decent ingame items you need to pay real life cash for SOL diamonds where you can purchase the items from a menu system ie the best mounts.
Now the nitty-gritty of the game. One of the first things you'll notice is the world chat system- its so silent you'll think no-one is online. When there is chat it will be mostly players bitching and insulting each other. This has the usual impact of new players leaving for good and established players having to put up with it as there is no way to turn the chat system off.
The leveling is good to about level 50 but after that it takes forever to level up and if youre insane enough to reach level 90 you will regret spending so much time at the game.
There is an upgrade system in place to upgrade your weapons and armour but you will need to purchase SOL diamonds before you can begin. When you begin to upgrade there is a very good chance you will fail to upgrade. Instead of just continuing to upgrade after failing you will loose all your previous 'stars' and you need to start from scratch- talk about wasting your real life money.
The game settings are very basic. For example the display setting is either full screen or windowed. If, like me, you have a 22in widescreen monitor then either setting is inadequate as in full screen the qame is squashed and the graphics are like the original Doom game. In windowed mode you have a game that only covers approx. a third of the screen.
In conclusion I would say this game is tolerable for a week or so and and would rate it a five out of 10.
