I have played off and on since the open beta (did the pre-order), and I have never gotten a toon above 32. The game simply is not fun for me - though I cannot put my finger on it (like I can the glaring problems with CO and DCUO). I still resub at least twice a year to see if it is for me yet, but it never lasts more than a couple of days.

While the game itself is solid overall, the mechanics has not changed much and the lag is getting pretty bad, even on computers built to handle gaming. Good for players that are new to the game, but stales fairly quickly since for the most part there is only three types of missions: find the item, kidnap/rescue, and kill all/kill boss. The maps for instance missions are rather repetative (extremely) and this lack of imagination can get annoying sometimes. Overall a decent community IF you can play during peak times. I don't know if this is good or bad, but the game has also gotten WAY to easy to play. From level 1 to 50 in about two weeks of playing and no sence of accomplishment when you get a toon to max level because of that.

Costume and appearance options are immense. Indoor environments are extremely redundant in terms of graphics and layouts.

I like this game...i got introduced to it by some friends and have liked it ever since. I liked how i could fly and run super speed with out being stopped...like in typical games with timers and such for no reason...i liked that i wasnt blocked form going to a location ina straight line...i liked not being forced to travel for 30 minutes for no reason to get someplace. The graphics for this game are superior...they have the highest resolutions i have seen so far....most people who whine about graphics lag need a new computer and graphics card....i use a GT480 and have 8 gigs of ram..i play in in a resolution of at least 1920 by 1080 with wide screen and everyhting turned on to maximum...i get no graphic lag...the lag fromt he internet is not much there for me so i have to say its connection spepeds are wonderful....the community for the game are very dedicated and typical as in alot of them still want to back seat drive your character..but most of them are still helpful and friendly....customer service is till top notch even aftere they moved from straight cryptic to nc soft....they will help you at any time of the day...and they will even give you free things if you have a big enough problem or point out things they advertise that they didnt give. Fun factor is top notch as they dont make you grind...they have adventures that can takes hours to just seconds...their is no such thing as only one reaid or a handlful...they ahve alot of raids and and alot of multiplayer content...they also dont alienate single players by making it so only specific people can do things....like many games this one still has players who say there there is only one way...but this game has alot of ways to do anything...and it makes it fun proving those know it alls wrong...sound is not too bad either..they did a very good job on eviromental effects and 3d sound....so you can find things by the sounds they make...role playing wise....there are many role players...i rated it 8 only...becasue well its a game to be played...not stand around role playing.

The game is okay, it's nothing great and truly gets boring after a while you are doing the same thing over and over. I also guess it depends where you are but I found the community pretty non-existent, in most MMOs there was always people coming up to me or I had to group up. I didn't find anybody or the need for a group for a very long time. There are fun parts of the game but I'm pretty half in and half out on this game.

I love the versatility of this game. Start as a hero or a villain, or as neither in the upcoming 'Going Rogue' expansion. 14 archtypes (classes) to choose from with a nearly inexhaustible combination of powers and the best costume creator/editor in the industry, hands down including that ability to customize the colours of your powers.
City of Heroes is more then just going out and button-mashing and killing stuff. After 2 and a half years I still haven't experienced it all. Role playing is player driven and does not exclusively mean ERP/MRP. Overall, we appear to have one of the best forum communities. at least that's what I keep hearing from other forumites that also spend time on other games' forums.
But when it comes down to it, it doesn't matter what I or anyone else has to say. Avail yourself of the 14-day free trial, check it out, and make your own decision.

Awesome game with imporved graphics and great community, though sounds are a little annoying at times and for a game as old as this is better performance should be expected. Highlight of this game though is the character customisation.

The game is outdated, CO should be the superhero game you pick up if you're looking for a superhero game. If Champions Online has no interest from you then you should probably just want for DC universe online.
