wouild be interesting, but there are some major problems with that.

1. there are not enough signiture hero's to go around

2. the signiture hero's are intellectual properity of Cryptic

3. there powers are already set and not up to modification.

4. and most if not all the signiture hero's belong to real folks in Cryptic and Nsoft

5.And why would you want to even play a charater that someone elce has developed and made power selections and modifications to. When your not going to have the ability to make then your own.

so it's not a really viaible option. But does stay in the range of a wish list.

Maybe something could be work around Recluse's Victory.

You would not play right away, you would be put into a queue to play whichever hero spawn first...so you don't select to play a precise one, you say you want to play one atm...and you have to wait that players spawn them...

Of course this is merely to kick ass in PvP by using a very powerfull toon, would increase the difficulty in RV or peoples might abuse it and not play aggressively enought (like having friends on the other side waiting), yet, it is worth exploring.

To avoid a waiting downtime, they could be allowed in a precise mission, but then it mean a LOT more work for Cryptic, as to what are the goal of this mission, why to play them, what for and what are the "rewards"...while the RV idea, even if far from perfect, give you the feeling and require little work from Cryptic.  So if your waiting, maybe you could be playing with that overpowered toon in a waiting area and know how far in the queue you are...

Instead of picking a signature hero, why not get the option to be a random npc mob?  EQ1 did this a few years ago, a purely for fun thing to do.  Instead of clicking on your character, you click on "monster" (or whatever) and then you're a skull in kings, or a lesser devoured in Independence Port.  You can play that mob until (1) you're killed (2) you zone or (3) you logoff.  Also I think communication would be disabled, can read chat channels find but can't send anything to any channel.

As to Ano's #4 post...

I could see something like this in the Arena. maybe have scheduled bouts between The Freedom Phalanx and Arachnos. sign up for a time slot, and if there's a no-show, an alternate gets the spot. Teams could either be balanced out by AIs or the filled in order of sign up (last one in goes to other team).

Could also have the Vindicators vs. Arachnos Sidekicks (whatever they're called) or FP vs. the Praetorians. Possibly have something on the training room server or an instance on the main servers where you could 'try on' the various powers.

Make it a recurring event so it wouldn't get too passe'. Offer badges for participating. Drop salvage in the 'real' world to give you choice of toon or priority placement, like the fast-pass at 6-flags. Make it a watchable cage-match thing. [have no idea how to do that.]
