There are places that would do it. But it would cost thousands of dollars.

They could set it up as a sort of contest prize type of thing.
They could set up an in-game event or have a sort of raffle on the main webpage. That way, they're not spending thousands of dollars making millions of people their online super hero into action figures. Groovy. |

Well, its probably so far away from the average joe consumer that I doubt it work for CoH but anyways I read of a 3D printer a company is working on that you bascially place a mold into, enter/design a template and make models, figures, etc. This article was a few months back and I believe the printer cost around $10,000 but the company was hoping to eventually achieve economy of scale somewhere close to current printer manufacturers. Just think of putting a block of putty like substance into the 'printer' and using a program similar to Maya or a cut down version that just accepts templates. It was a very neat product. But on the doable side, pick up a copy of Toyfare as they do(or used to do, its been years since I read one) action figure contests where people build figures from scratch or take pre-made figures and modify them. I'm sure there might be an email or two or a forum on Toyfare that anybody could post for an estimate. |
