Hi there.
I was just so bored of the fantasy genre, and thought about giving coh a try... So glad I did it, i know, the game has aged but heck it plays so fresh! Did play other superhero mmorpg's (Champion Online/ DCUO) but I think this game still stands above the others..
There's still a lot of people online, I played freedom a few days and subscribed :)
Just wanna share this.... |

I tried it... and I'd just love to know why it limits my fps under 20... and doesn't matter if i place settings ultra max omfg high or ultra low... same fps around 16 or 17.. and something is limiting it, I can't play it like that... and my pc should be so much more then enough for this oldie... |

the same happens to me Wardoxy. Weird, ah? I mean, i have a gtx 580 3gb, core i7, 6gb rams, etc, etc, etc. And i get a weird fps performance. But the game IS very much enjoyable... it just needs MORE bgm. |

Hmmmzz strange? I got an older rig, with less ram then you have, but on very high settings it runs like a train! |

I have a similar issue. It's a very picky game. I often have to shut down and reset my router if anyone in the house has been on any website that day. If I don't reset, the game disconnects me constantly. It happened the first time I tried it, too, on a free trial. Other games are no problem, some of them I can play while three of us are online and I'm downloading something besides, but CO for some reason gives my router fits. |

CoX is kind of funny - depending on your rig, you can actually get better performance from higher settings than lower settings. It definitely heats up the CPU more than other games for me. Other games barely touch the CPU temp and just heat up the GPU. CoX on the other hand, heats up the CPU and barely touches the GPU. I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again? I really want to like it, but basically all the missions/quests so far either boil down to either killing X amount of people, or going into a base where I have to take out mobs of 2-3 enemies every so often, then fight a boss. It doesn't help that the game has the slowest combat in a MMORPG I've played, even slower than LOTRO. http://my.lotro.com/character/landroval/galadthryth/ |

Originally posted by trancejeremy Sounds like you're playing the game solo, even though you can it's not really meant to be played like that. Get yourself into a team of 8 and you'll be having to wade through crap loads of mobs and work together. First time through The Hollows doing missions like Frostfire on full teams and ramping up the difficulty were a blast back in the day. Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them. |

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this. |

I agree. It's a cracking little game, and the VIP sub deal is awesome. Having a ton of fun in it with friends right now. |

I tried this game today and in 12 years of MMO gaming, wherein I have played dozens of MMOs, this ranks as the worst game ever. How the hell they got people to pay for it is a mystery. No wonder it went F2P. |

It sounds like the game just wasn't for you. Honestly before it went F2P, I considered it my favorite MMORPG of all time, and I don't even like the superhero genre. It was definitely worth paying for, IMO. <3 |

I just reinstalled it to try out the f2p options. i had played it for 2 months back in early 2005 so i was curious how it was doing. I didnt quit in 2005 because i thought it sucked but rather for another game i was excited about. I came back and had a little credit to get my toons working and started up again for a couple hrs on a lowbie i had. I actually dont mind the f2p deal they have going at all. I dont feel terribly limited compared to other f2p's. I could see myself getting back into this. I think what alot of new players have trouble with in this game is that the combat is slow in the early levels as you dont have alot of skills available early on so it seems like very slow ponderous combat in the beggining due to the long reset times on some of the individual skills you have. Having gotten to the higher levels in the past i can safely say that the slow combat is something that dissipates the furthur you get in lvl's. But as you level you become more and more impressive and powerful as you go like you should in an mmo. So it does have a very gradual power curve, but i was only subbed for 2 months and i had hit over lvl 40 back in 2005 on top of 2 alts that were in the teens. |
