So I, as many, wanted to check out CoH to see how it is. I made a NCSoft account, downloaded client and saw a speed rate of 10k/s.
10k/s.
I thought, "Ah, needs time." so I left it downloading through the night. When I woke up it was at bloody 100mb. After googling, I found out I wasn't the only one with the problem. There is no fix.
I'm not trolling. Just wanted to give a heads up that if you want to try this game out, expect to either cancel in RAGE or prepare to wait. A lot.
I'm on a 12mb connection. My max download speed is 1.6mb/s.

Well to add more wood on the fire. I had the game already downloaded and while I was on Champion server there's one thing I did notice. I have yet to see another player. Apperantly Champions Online has really hurt this game. Is anyone still playing it. No one else is playing and chat is quiet. If you still want to download it expect to play solo. |

I know a fair ammount of players on my server(Freedom) who are taking a break from the game and just moving their toons to the various day job locations then just logging off this past week so they can hit the double xp weekend hard with alot of toons.
P.s. Freedom an Virtue are still the top populated servers. Virtue is where alot of the RPers are. |

They tend to do reactivation periods along with double xp weekends. Usually after any new issue.
If I recall correctly they didn't have a reactivation last time there was a double xp weekend and people (paying players) complained some. |

Yeah it's not the first time they've done that together. It's generally after a play-changing issue where they want people to come try it out. In this case, the new SK system makes teaming easier and Exemplaring down less painful. It's worth experiencing. However, it probably does say something about populations. If they were majorly worried about full server lockouts, they could have done the two promotions on separate weekends. However, if the concern is that people will come back and not find teammates, then you want to pack as many people in as possible to make the servers busy. They chose Plan B, so... To the original issue, heavier dl periods cause slower speeds. If a lot of people are DLing, it will slow down for all. I've seen a full DL and patch take 4-5 hours during quiet periods, so I can only imagine how much worse it gets at a busy time. But that's easily the worst I've ever seen (for any game) and what I say is no excuse, just an explanation. Currently playing: |

I expected CoH to go quiet with the CO release, but according to Xfire's chart, CoH has gone up in activity and CO has dropped a fair bit in the past week. Hopefully the 1-month trial players will return to CoH with disappointment of CO, CO's graphics look unique and cool but the gameplay is very bland. It wouldn't surprise me if NCSoft decides to shut down CO in a few years like they did with Autoassault and Tabula Rasa. SWTOR: sub ended, no thanks to Georg Zoeller! |

STOP USING XFIRE TO "GUESS" HOW GOOD A GAME IS DOING. 5. if you don't like this post oh ****** well |
