Call of Fate is still looking for a few good Superheroes on Justice.

What is the Call of Fate?

The Call of Fate (CoF) is a group of people from all over the world that have come together to bond in friendship and mutual support on many different game worlds. The original home of the CoF was on the Frostfell server of Asheron's Call (est. 1999), and since its inception it has spread to many other worlds. At present, the CoF holds a presence in Asheron's Call 1, on both the Guinevere (Hibernia) and Tristan (Midgard) servers in Dark Age of Camelot, in Asheron's Call 2, in Star Wars Galaxy, in Final Fantasy XI, in Horizons, in Anarchy Online, City of Heroes - and is working on expansion plans for World of Warcraft and Everquest 2.

We are friends and family. We are honorable and friendly. We try to exemplify what is best in human nature. Frankly, we do a damned good job of it.

Who's in charge here?

Each branch of the CoF is run by its own officers, who establish that group's structure, playstyle, and guidelines. The top 2 ranking officers (the Monarch and First Officer) of each game world sit on the "High Council," which oversees all game worlds. All of this sits under the guidance of the Call of Fate Guildmasters - Ishamael Creed, Cerebus, and Maingray, who work on the website and lead the guild.

Check the guild FAQs on the various game worlds to get more details on who the officers are and how they may be contacted for your particular game. Officers may be contacted by a link on their main portal page, or by sending them a private message (PM) in the forums.

The City Of Heroes branch, Champions Of Fate, is run by Gweyr with the assistance of Blackfoot, Vog, Nine Lives and Wayszygoose.

Are you recruiting new members?

Absolutely! However, as an organization of players, we have a motto for recruitment: Build friendships, not empires. We are much more about keeping the faith and keeping a close group than we are about becoming a massive unwieldy allegiance of players who don't know each other. We invite friends to join us on our quests and socializations, and if they decide to become guild-mates, then so be it. But they will be friends most of all.

How does CoF assign new Officers?

The job of guild officer is not a glorious one. It's a job of service, and reflects loyalty and the willingness to put your own interests aside to help out your fellows in the guild.

You are promoted by the guildmaster and existing Officers of that branch of the CoF (AC, DAoC etc). No-one arbitrarily throws the label "officer" on someone because we decide we like them. We rely on them coming to notice through their actions... leading quests, posting useful information on the boards, setting up things beneficial to the guild and MAINTAINING those worthy actions. Most Officers are obvious, without them having to ask to be one.

Contact your CoF branch guildmaster or an officer to inquire more on this subject.

Does the CoF play PK (player-killer)?

Although not a PK guild overall, there is a definite interest in PK activities within the CoF. We can state emphatically that the PK elements of the guild will maintain an honorable face in the PK world, and anyone who is a member will not use speed-hack other cheats to defeat a foe. Additionally, we will not grief-play. All the standards of the guild are in full-effect, whether PKing or not.

If I join, will you twink me? If I join, will you give me 'uber item here'?

It's your sponsor's decision on how much to hand you, either in terms of service or items. But it is important to know that we are not a guild of twinkers, nor are we a guild of campers or item whores. We quest together, we die together, we stand around and chat together, we have a strong web community where thoughts and viewpoints are shared - we offer guidance, friendship, support, and yes, often material support in your growth. However, if a free sword or twinking is more important to you than those things, then we are probably not the right home for you.

Is the Call of Fate a good match for me?

There are several rules by which a guild member lives by. If you want to be in our family, these rules will have to be ingrained in your heart and in your head. They are what set us apart from many other guilds. The guidelines vary a bit from world to world, depending on the specifics of life there (see the various world portals for further details on guidelines for that realm), however, they are all based on the Call of Fate Creed: Respect thy leaders, respect thy fellows, respect thy friends, and respect thyself. If you don't feel that this creed has a place in your game play, then we probably aren't a good match for you.

Yes, we are playing games, but the statement that "it's just a game" that people use when they are harming other players does not fly here. It may just be a game, but the game is your interface to other *real* people. The game can be used to lash out and hurt people, just as much as standing face to face with them, and we will not tolerate overly selfish or hurtful behavior in our guild.

What sort of guild is the CoF? For example, power leveling, questing, role-playing, etc.?

We have many different play styles going on at any given time, and it also tends to lean one way or another depending on what world you are in (some games leaning more toward PK, some more toward cooperative play). Our general stance is one of moderation. We have those who enjoy role-playing to a great extent, although not spouting overly flowery words; and we have those who enjoy power gaming and shooting for XP or item goals. Most members fit somewhere in between.

Overall, we most easily fit into the category of a questing guild. Allegiance quest nights are always well supported, and our website is constantly updated with quest events. We are very event driven and look forward to leading the way into new discoveries every month! We are definitely not a twinking or item camping guild. We feel that it's much better to earn your way in the world without having too much handed to you.
