Depends on what you want.

Freedom is the most populated server, and virtue is the official unofficial roleplaying server :P

And there's no alt. download for the client, but the autopatcher should give you full speed.

I think you're already down that road but I always recommend DLing and patching before you activate the key, because it can take a few hours.

For servers, it depends what you want. Freedom is, as said, the biggest server. Many people automatically think that is great. However, bear in mind that during a special "double xp" weekend last month, Freedom was locking players out due to being full. (This despite recent hardware upgrades). And the boards were filled with players wishing they were on any server but Freedom.

Also, though they are making efforts to get it under control, the "gold farmers" aren't above spamming people about their services. And the largest server naturally is the biggest draw.

That said, if you play at odd hours, or intend to spend a lot of time on villains (which is naturally less populated than heroes) I'd go to Freedom. If you have more normal hours, I rarely have trouble finding a team on even a light server though, so I'd stay away from the packed house.

If you RP, Virtue is tops for that. Pinnacle I'd say is second, they have the "RP Congress."

If you PVP, I belive Guardian, Justice, and Freedom have something of a PvP reputation. However, most inter-guild (SuperGroup) pvp battles actually happen on the test server, which PvPers copy their characters over to. So it's less about finding a server and more about finding a guild.

If you're into collecting badges (one of the never-ending challenges of the game, with well over 500 now) every server has a channel (or 2, or 3), but I find the best are "LBx" on Liberty and "Inf Badge Seeker" on Infinity. Freedom also has plenty of badge hunters by virtue of being the largest, but they sometimes clash with PvPers (since you need to go into PvP areas to get badges, yet they don't want to fight).

If you seek a mellower, more friendly environment, Infinity, Liberty, and Triumph are known as friendly servers. On the other hand, if you're into self-epxression, always turn your language filter off, and seek people like that, Pinnacle and Protector can get downright raunchy at night.

And Champion (which I think is the only one I haven't mentioned one way or another) is kind of a middle-of-the-road server. It hangs around 4th on the most populated list, and has all kinds of folks but doesn't stand out particularly any other way.

Of course you can find any type of people anywhere. But there's something of a self-fulfilling prophecy as people tend to seek out similar folks in the long run.

Personally I started on Pinnacle, moved to Liberty as I filled up my characters slots, picked Infinity as I filled up there, and along the way made some characters on Protector in case the other 3 (all East-coast) are down. Rare, but it happens. Now I have most of my villains on Protector, and most of my 50s on Pinnacle, but if I had to pick one server it would be Infinity.

And all 4 of those are at the bottom of the population list, so believe me when I tell you finding a team really isn't a problem anywhere. Enjoy!
