Three things are lacking in CoH: 1) content for solo players 2) new starting/ low level missions and zones (picking a new costume and powers is fun, but then you get stuck doing the same missions over and over) and 3) a wide enough range of powers.
I was hoping with Marvel and DC both going to be putting out games, there would be some major upgrades to COH. I'm hoping that now that at least the Marvel game is dead, the developers at COH don't get lazy.
One thing that would be awesome, would be if a single character could have more than two power sets. You could do this as a three year veteran reward--but then it won't really be a draw for new people. You could set up special servers with these characters, instead of making it a game-wide change. That way, the people who think these toons are too powerful can just avoid the new servers. Anyway, here are the six power pools:
Power Pool One: 1. Archery 2. Assault Rifle 3. Dark Blast 4. Electrical Blast 5. Energy Blast 6. Fire Blast 7. Ice Blast 8. Lasso Attack 9. Psychic Blast 10. Radiation Blast 11. Sonic Blast 12. Thrown Weapons (knives, boomeranges, etc.) 13. Water Blast 14. Web Blast 15. Wind Blast

They need some tweaking, but you get the idea.
