I don't consider it any test of anyone's skill when a group of players descend upon one or two players in a PvP zone and pummel them into the ground. Well, I suppose it could be a test of skill for the gankee - how long can he withstand the onslaught, how many gankers can he take down before he himself goes down. But yeah, 8-on-1 is not much of a test for the 8.

Yeah 8 on 1 is more a shining example of being gang assaulted. Some characters and the player that uses the character may be able to outfight them, but odds are they go down in minutes. |

Damian 7 is my new hero tell it brother! It is ironic that when the everyday joe that plays this game like me to relieve the stress of the day may enjoy mass killing! Instead of punching my boss in the face i play this game! Damian could not have put it better dont holler at the masses because they used what you gave them to better their paid for toons. Those who are against farming stop asking to be farmed play the game how you want you pay for it! Posi is a crybaby that just can not come to terms with the fact that players are smarter then he or his develpment team! Tell me that they had no idea AE could be farmed like it is! They lay it on the counter like a snicker bar and tell all the kids we are going out nobody better eat the candy! I for one am for all the farming we can do their is no top end content to interest me anyway. I want to make as many toons as i can so my account will sell for more by the time the devs (and they will) throw this game in the shitter! |

Just a quick question, I played CoH for a while up until a few months ago. When they were talking about the Architect issue, they said you would not be able to get drops from mobs in the player made missions. Did that change when it went live? As for player made content, I remember doing that back in the day with MUDs. I think that there could be a good future in it for a company who pulls it off properly. I'm saying that separate from CoH, I'm not bashing it or anything. I haven't tried the latest issue so I can't comment. As for PvP, it was a big draw for me. Then I learned the bases were messed up and it was disappointing. I've pretty much stopped keeping track of it and got bored with running the same cookie cutter missions over and over again. I love the character customization and some of the other features, though. All in all, it is worth checking out but I would be hard pressed to get into it for an extended period of time. so, NO, no pvp worth a damn or worth mentioning.
out of curiousity... which comics are the ones where heroes go someplace and beat the tar out of each other for fun and practice?
sure isn't the xmen's danger room. Nah, arenas are a true test of ones skill inside the framework of a games pvp. Ganking is not. Thanks for trying though.
um, arenas are the lamest pvp add on since online pvp came into existence. no thanks for trying involved. true pvp has NEVER been in a sterile environment. but hey, thanks for not being able to answer the question.
I disagree, I've played many, many types of pvp in games and, while randomly ganking people can be fun I guess, it's akin to running up to someone and sucker punching them instead of actually having a 1 on 1 fight with them. Arena (prepared) pvp is a true testament of ones skill inside a games pvp metagame. That's why, ya know, they have tournaments for real life money based on this...lol On top of this they've all but offically announced they plan to release a villain version of the game in posts, which is undoubtedly going to bring open pvp zones just as City of Villains did in City of Heroes. Regardless the fact still remains that there will, in fact, be pvp in CO. I hate to come off as aggressive and, I apologize. It just really urks me when people think that randomly running around and fighting people with half their health bars or when you and your friends take on a much smaller group of opposing players as "real" pvp. I agree that I do want this in game because it can create some really fun and interesting moments, however if I had to choosee only one to be in a launch I would choose the more skill dependant arena based pvp. If you don't think it can be fun check out Guild Wars sometime it's got an amazing pvp system in place, and gank free! As for your question- you must not read many comics, I guess? Superheroes have been fighting each other for sport (training) and other reasons throughout the history of comics.
edit: to everyone QQing about ganking---- what is with the constant 'ganking' QQ? xmen have the danger room to practice -- xMEN - plural. the fantastic four have combats with robots and whatever stuff Mr F sets up -- again, the fantastic FOUR - plural. getting ganked, cuz you're an antisocial miscreant who can't be bothered to hang out with a few people in a pvp zone; BUT will QQ about ganking? double U tee eff??????????
arenas aren't about pvp. it's the same lame dueling as what you used to see in say ironforge, where people would "duel" each other.
pvp'ing (again using wow) would be when a bunch of horde and a bunch of alliance would all end up in/around booty bay and fight for hours. groups of people - on both sides.
never heard batman QQ cuz the Joker had a bunch of henchies, or the Joker teamed with Penguin AND Two-Face and Bats had to fight all of them AND their henchies. Never heard Superman QQ that ole Lex was sending all sorts of robots + henchies against him.... the list goes on and on....
what people want is the single player experience, but to be able to say "i'm a bad ass in X MMO". it's a massively multiplayer game - wtf would the pvp be single player?????????????????????????????????????????

sort of like.. .the "exploits" with the ae system? risk vs reward, over powered, exploit, whatever you want to name it --- the devs "nerf" these items for a reason. just playing ae and pushing it to the limits, just like fire tankers, just like running freaks/tv/battle maiden missions, just like winter lords, just like 30 minute speed katies, just like everything else that's been considered overpowered and subsequently nerfed... but hey, only on AE will we do some sort of punishment. that is not logic a reasonable person would find acceptable.
if you can not understand this simple line of reasoning - i can not help you.
