Played eve-online since it came out. I like the PvP it has. JG pilot flying skills sounds real cool, so in not so many words what happens the the "killed" player in JG, does he loss his ship, his "skills" (if you get podded in eve, you lose your implants if you have any and you need to pay for a new clone uprade).

I got so much |
Actually losing the cargo is a hefty "death penalty"
What can i tell you. It is still not announced. Hopefully there will be PVP servers for hardcore crowd, where dying carries hefty penaltyes

It is all vaporware until I see it go live! |
Originally posted by Lobotomist Not if you aren't carrying any cargo. Let's hope that they come up with a better model than this, otherwise the gankers will have no risk at all while the poor hauling schmoo is gonna bear the brunt of everything. But like you said, they haven't announced their model yet, but I think its safe to say they won't take the total hardcore route because they have a real desire to succeed with this game. |

Originally posted by LobotomistIf it didn't take weeks to grind for your ship (standard MMO flaw), then losing it wouldn't be a big deal. You shouldn't have to "grind" at all for anything. In pre-CU SWG, you plop a thumper on the ground and it did all the grinding for you. And the thumper should have been destructable, like if you were imperial, a rebel should have been able to destroy your thumper.
Cheap easy to get equipment spawns a vigorous PvP environment. Expensive heavy grinding equipment games spawns carebear zones. |

The best fun is to game with your friends. :) |
Eve has too hefty death penalty unless you have an uber income source... especially for new players which is very frustrating. |

Originally posted by funnylumpy Well you don't become King in eve after a day or even a year..., but you can safe guard yourself by flying a smaller ship (less to lose) and by being part of a bigger fleet, however this should not turn into a discussion about eve. I personaly like to see that combat does gives the winner something and the losser, does lose something more than just a "respawn" back at base.

I hope they keep the original penalty like in EVE. I loved being a pirate =). |

Bring back Earth and Beyond. |
And if they do they will never become a mainstream game, Eve is realising some success but nothing as to what it could have been. If you want Eve's harsh death penalties then keep playing Eve, I trust NetDevil will use a more common sense approach to appeal to a larger audience. |

Originally posted by Kyleran Good point about the risk for the ganker. In this, they will have to be completely hardcore (lose the ship too) or not at all (no loss of cargo either). Otherwise, it will become griefer's paradise. By comparison, Eve is nasty enough, but there you can get lucky now and then and cost the ganker a ship.
