so i installed NC1 to play on the free server (i hope its still up) and the launcher wouldnt work ...

it displayed the message cant find the webpage (or something along those lines) and was curious if its not supported anymore or something

NC1 is closed to new accounts and is no longer really supported.

Try http://ng.neocron.com/ for the latest download and release of NC2.1 for a Free Trial

Yes i am aware of this.    i played NC1 ALONG time ago and still have my discs.

im just curious as to why what was suppose to be displayed was not displayed.  and why i couldnt seem to connect

Account reactivation for the Neocron 1 isnn't supported anymore. You can only play it if you have an existing active Neocron 1 account - the 'free server' was the result of a billing error.

Just to clear something up, there isn't now, nor has there ever been, a free server. There was a billing issue once where a number of accounts were frozen but that was cleared up even before Neocron 1 was retired. Neocron 1 has now finished however so I'm afraid your old installation kit no longer works.

All NC1 characters were frozen and copied to a holding area ready for later transfer to Neocron 2 should the owner require it. No NC1 accounts or their characters have ever been deleted so you're welcome to try them on Neocron 2 if you so wish.

No. There was a server but it wasn't free (see my post above). That server is no longer running.

Neocron 1 was run until the payment periods expired and then we moved forward solely with Neocron 2. All your characters are stored, ready to be transferred if and whenever you decide - just create a new NC2 account and then email account@neocron.com with details of your old NC1 and new NC2 accounts.
