Tales of Pirates was an adventure MMORPG from MOLI and IGG centered around piracy. Players could pick a character at the beginning of the game and later choose the primary classes of Swordsman, Explorer, Hunter, and Herbalist, and subsequently, the advanced classes of Crusader, Champion, Sharpshooter, Voyager, Cleric, and Seal Master. Players' characters also had specific quests in addition to the game's storyline quests.
At level 15, players were able to purchase ships and gain access to the sea, which included new areas and new gameplay, including maritime battles. There were dungeons to crawl, many job and crafting opportunities, and several cities to visit. The game had regular updates and GM-led events and was free to play with an optional item mall. Tales of Pirates has since been taken over by the game's sequel, Tales of Pirates II.
An especially interesting development has been announced for IGG's Tales of Pirates today, answering the age-old question many players pose to those announcing they are leaving a particular game: "Can I have your stuff?" With the announcement of the Hosting & Heir system for Tales of Pirates, the answer is a resounding, "Yes!"
The team behind Tales of Pirates has released a large balance update today, their biggest yet. These changes should help bring lower tier classes, and overpowered classes towards the middle.
