NetDevil has made a press release regarding their "trade-in" promotion. Apparently they will be allowing players to hand in many different games now to try out JumpGate free for 30 days. Here is the official announcement:
Louisville, CO - June 3, 2004 - NetDevil Ltd., the independent developers of the massively multiplayer space combat and trading simulation Jumpgate, today announced an expansion to their promotion started March 18, 2004. The promotion included a free 30-day trial (instead of the standard 10) to players who sent in their retail versions of Earth and Beyond. New games have been added to the trade-in list, to give more people the opportunity to test-fly Jumpgate.
Join the enigmatic Quantar, the warlike Octavians or the mercantilist Solrain as they work to rebuild civilization following the great collapse and defeat the alien Conflux menace.
"We are pleased to have the chance to welcome more players into the Jumpgate community. With all the fantasy genre games flooding the market, Jumpgate provides unique and innovative gameplay a tight, strong community that gives you the feeling that you really belong," commented lead programmer Josh Johnston.
List of select games for trade-in:
- Earth and Beyond
- EVE
- Neocron
- Planetside
- Star Wars Galaxies
- Anarchy Online
To take advantage of the opportunity, players should:
- Download Jumpgate (http://www.jossh.com/support/)
This is just so stupid. Who in his right mind, even if he is not playing the old, REAL, game anymore, would give away the package he bought to testplay some amateurish crap that two students made in a garage in Wisconsin?!
Anyone that do this... No, I can not even believe one person will. That is not a game, that is an idiot that tries to make some money on a homebuild.
Have you even bothered to ever play the game? Or even looked at it before sprouting off at the mouth like some adolecence that is in dire need of a lesson in manners? As a person who has in the past played Jumpgate, (too busy atm to play) it actualy is a well thought out game, I do admit it is in desparate need of alot of things, but your just a moron.
Thanks,
have a nice day.
Jumpgate is no garage game. There's no question that it's fallen on some hard times because of the original publisher's (3DO) screw-ups, but it's a great game.
The graphics are not Eve-quality, but the gameplay (IMO) is far superior. Check it out before you trash it -- there's a 10-day free trial even without turning in your E&B, Eve, etc. disk.
