2Moons News - Announces Closed Beta

Posted by on Jan 13, 2007  | 13 comments in our forums

Acclaim Games annouces the beginning of the closed Beta test for 2Moons.

Acclaim Games is pleased to announce the start of Closed Beta testing for 2Moons, a totally brutal Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) that is FREE to download and play on a PC. With the tagline "No mercy for the weak, no pity for the dying, no tears for the slain", 2Moons was designed exclusively for Adult gamers age 17 and over, featuring extreme fantasy violence, profanity, an epic story, and heart-pumping action.

Since Closed Beta email registration began in August 2006, without any marketing, over 100,000 gamers have already signed up to participate via the official 2Moons website at www.2MoonsGame.com.

These Closed Beta testers will be given an exclusive & confidential first look at the game, and are asked to report bugs and issues, and to make suggestions to the development team.

2Moons was designed to be easy for any player to get into and enjoy right away. Featuring elements of traditional role-playing games and arcade-style fighting action, 2Moons will appeal to a broad range of players who seek a thrilling, action-packed gaming experience in an exciting story. The game story is set in an aggressive, dangerous, and visually stunning world and was written by writer Henry Jones.

"I've made a lot of games over the years", says the game's Director David Perry. "There's no doubt that by the time we're done, 2Moons will have really earned it's 'Most Edgy MMORPG' accolade. The Beta testers will be able to see all the new features getting added over time. They'll also be able to help us craft this into a game they each personally love."

2Moons is the third release from the new Acclaim, a resurrected company with a familiar name. The new Acclaim will focus entirely on providing quality multiplayer online games for free. The games will be supported with a mix of advertising and virtual item stores. For 2Moons, players will also be allowed to turn off the in-game adverting if they choose to, a major innovation in the FREE online game industry. Acclaim has already partnered with IGA to provide in-game advertising for its other online game titles.

Players will also have a chance to be a part of the actual game itself. Several lucky players will be able to participate in the development process by providing the voices for characters in 2Moons. Acclaim will choose the best player voice recordings to go into the game. Get more information at http://phpbb.acclaim.com/2moons/viewtopic.php?t=1594.

To play 2Moons and participate in Closed Beta testing, registered players must receive an official invitation by email. Invitations will be emailed regularly on a first come, first served basis. Fans that have not yet registered are encouraged to sign up at www.2MoonsGame.com, as Closed Beta space may be limited.

2Moons Closed Beta is expected to last several weeks, followed by Open Beta testing where a larger group can participate to further test the game before official release. Register now to be one of the first to experience this exciting new game!

Just when you thought voice acting in games couldn't possibly get wrose, Acclaim pushes this down our throat.

What the hell are you guys talking about, if you had even read the forums you would realise that they are adding the contest winners in bit at a time, they have had some trouble with the account activations and are currently working on getting all the contest winners into Closed beta now.

Ripped off, how have you been ripped off, you havnt lost anything and you will still get to play the game when your account gets activated within the next week.

The issue we're having is that in many other contests, people have been given their prizes quickly, and were often let into the beta right away. Here, we're seeing it set up so that some of us will not even see the beta till like a week before open beta... which is quite pointless. I'm glad they got a lot of people interested in the game, but if you have a contest like this, you have to own up and get all of the contest people in before selecting even more people who signed up to get in. One or two is cool, and IF they are doing it that way, that's great. but the way it's sounding right now is that contest winners are being treated as a burden, and they'll just "get around to it".

You seem so desperate to play the game yet it is obviouse that you dont follow any of the news about the game or even visit the forums.

If you read the forums it has been stated that they are having some sort of system problems which is slowing them down in getting people activated.

Ya that's right ripped off, other players are in the world before any of the contest winners...wtf is that, huh? Shouldn't have been a contest obviously, I should dig that email up and shove it in acclaim's face, exspecially the part that said contest winners are first in ><.

Contest winners shouldnt be in front of the dedicated posters etc. Some of us (myself included) have been members of the Acclaim forums for a long time and made alot of posts on there forums and have stayed active in the community, tell me, why should some "i got lucky" contest winner be in before us guys. Simply they shouldnt.

Really though everyone should be in at the same time, but still they are having problems, why cry about it, all of our characters get deleted at the end of closed beta anyways.

Also look up the meaning of ripped off. Ripped off is when you get over charged or w/e, you havnt given Acclaim a cent towards 2Moons.

Definitions of rip off on the Web:

cheat: deprive somebody of something by deceit; "The con-man beat me out of $50"; "This salesman ripped us off!"; "we were cheated by their clever-sounding scheme"; "They chiseled me out of my money"

That simply hasnt happened to any of you with this game.

Garrik

You just spelled it out right there for christ sakes. We have been deceived into thinking we were the first ones in.

This I found hard not to laugh at, what the hell you think a contest is? It's an act of service that allows the winners to get an advantage of everyone else. What would be the advantage for us to come in at the same time as everyone else, where's the prize in that? I have also also been Acclaim member for a long time beta testing all their games since the re-form of the new bankrupt company name. Again you ASSumed but this isn't the point, the point is what was told to us and what happened was twisted and we have been deceived.

Then just wait a short while untill you get your invite, geez.

I agree with Garrik. Dedicated members should come before people who won a contest. Imho, Beta's shouldn't even be used as prizes in contests in the first place.
