Upon posting the unveiling of Acclaim's 2Moons earlier today, many readers instantly linked the title back to a Korean MMORPG called Dekaron.
"Many Asian games just get translated and thrown out on the USA market", explained David Perry when contacted by MMORPG.com. "Acclaim wanted to change that model.""There's a clear need for Western designers to get involved if the games end up here, and so this is a special situation where the original game creator and I have decided to partner on this challenge, to take the framework of a working successful MMO and re-make it specifically for Western audiences," continued Perry.
Thus, while the two games share art, engine and some thematic issues, they are in effect two separate games designed for specific audiences.
I really hope this marks a permanent change in the industry (for both western and eastern companies), because it will certainly expand the market for MMOs in general, thus giving all of us more products [of interest] to choose from.
Lets see if he backs up what he says...I get the feeling it will just be a good translation and more americanized story line.
1) Dont call me american, dont assume I'm one just because I said AMERICANIZED
2) Fact is, they are AMERICANIZING it, no matter how much you wanna complain, its being AMERICANIZED for America.
and just for extra measure...
