Lockpick Entertainment, the company behind the MMORPG Dreamlords, has announced that they were awarded a Nordic Game Program cultural grant at the recent Nordic Game 2007 Conference.
The six-year program, launched in 2006, aims to boost the availability of games to consumers in the Nordic region. This year around DKK 5 million (EUR 671,000) has been earmarked for development funding, and is split equally into two rounds. The number of companies seeking funding from the first round reached nearly 40 of which six received funding from the program.
Said David Rosén, CEO of Lockpick Entertainment:
"We are really happy and grateful by this honor, to be one of only six Nordic companies receiving this grant. To us at Lockpick Entertainment it is not financial funding as much as an official recognition of our creative vision. As an independent Nordic developer it can sometimes be challenging to compete with large international companies and their big budget productions. Our recent much acclaimed and let me point out, first, game Dreamlords proved Lockpick Entertainment's ability to attract an international audience through innovative approach and thinking. This grant will allow us to further develop new and unique concepts."
