In anticipation for the launch the game will be down until 2PM CET when it will officially go live.
So, let’s all celebrate now and play The Reawakening – an MMORTS as it should be…

This is a really interesting game. It's more original than the games that have been coming out lately.
All this game is is a strategy game that you play on line.
It has no business being on this site, period! Unless of course you include all the other RTS online games out there including Starcraft etc.
Sorry if I offended anyone sensibilities, but you should be going to a strategy game site instead of here to read about this.
Is this a web based game or a full client game like an AoC or WoW?
It is split between a webclient for strategy management, and an rts client for tactics management.
It is definately different from games such as Starcraft, in the sense that you fight your enemies not just in one 10-30 minute game, but over a complete 2 month period, after which the world is destroyed and reformed by the dreamers again, and only very few things are kept by the players. The focus is convergence (guild) versus convergence over a long period of time, and PVE and PVP intermixes.
The player progresses his dreamlord and his community by obtaining "gnosis", which comes from destroying items found in game. The more gnosis, the more workers will swarm to your community, boosting output, research and dreamlord power. You then research newer and stronger units, and improve welfare and PVP facilities (and other buildings such as resource collection, hospitals for killed units, automatic hunterers, gatherers for pvp territories), growing stronger continously.
I guess on some level it could be considered an RPG, because your character is a walking dreamlord that you can buy gear for, and upgrade, and get new skills for. However, I'd say it is more of a long-term RTS.

The game is free to play and download, but some extras require the purchasing of "tribute" for IRL money, and there is a 2nd option to become "premium member" which means you get to save more between eras ("era points", rewards for research, which works like specialization or talents in other games for your dreamlord or community), trade more freely on the market and get more tribute while purchasing. While some things you purchase with tribute are quite weak and only of a superficial nature, others have a larger impact on the game (such as speeding up worker conversion and rehabiliattion).
Overall, the focus of the game is primarily on a very strategic level, meaning you combat over the entire 2 month period. Thus, the game has been perceived as "slow" by some, due to research, which can take days, stretching the entire era (and then being reset). However, tactics also matter a lot.
Obviously I am a big fan, but I think I have covered what some may consider negative aspects as well in this post.
Summing up: Very slow game, intentionally. Strategical choices matter over the entire 2month era (and even into the next era, but not as much). Everything you do has an effect on this. Lost a pvp game? Enemy gains a territory, and some soul shards (game money) and a charm - he grows stronger. Defeated a PVE mission? You just got a boost in resources, maybe some powerful item for your units to wear.
So basically, those who spend more real life money have better stuff and therefore an advantage over those who don't. RMT FTL.
Yes, there is a definite advantage.
