    • I played Rise a while ago and the first thing that stood out negatively was the launch interface, a bit awkward and odd to get by at first, though you get used to it. First off, people are always talking about how EVE has a hard learning curve, rise takes the bar a step further. It's complicated. I think the best feature is the community. Very helpful and very friendly. Always willing to help you out with no worry for themselves. I do wish the graphics would be upgraded some and the game brought up to more... modern times. As well, it takes way too long to get into space (which as a Sci-fi lover that was my main draw. Seamless space exploration.) Fun was hampered by the learning curve but it had its' momments. Such as when you crash with a ship the daily newspaper will report it in the headlines. Another big turn-off to me was the fact there's not really an avatar system (independent character) you're always confined to your car or ship which makes it a bit frustrating. I would suggest this to either the hardcore simulator/rpg fan or a sci-fi geek with some extra time on their hands.

    • Outstanding communication between the players and the devs. With patience and an enthusiasm for sims. This game attracts good players. Was hard to learn at first, but if you have at least the attention span of a kid with ADHD its easy once you learn the interface. The Community is really helpful.

    • This game can be fun, but it also can be very frustrating. You will start off in a car driving around the streets. Watch out for the curbs they will damage your car. (even though the streets are completly flat) In order to get a ship, you'll need to join a player alliance and a player can loan you there ship. Flying around the city is very fun and worth the $6 I paid. You can hover and land on top of buildings, go to different shops, visit the bank etc. However, if you die or crash into a building while in an aircraft it will spawn you 300km away from the city. A lot of people will argue that death should hurt, but you know what i'm sick of timesinks in rpg's, I thought we have moved past this...No one wants to die...by punishing you even further it just frustrates you to no end. Basically this game is as difficult as a flight simulator with some RPG aspects. Running one mission can take close to an hour and the moon that you're on is covered in dark clouds, so you'll be staring at your instrument panel the entire way. This game is not for the light hearted, it is pretty hardcore and complex...which is good, except for an RPG I would really hope to have a slightly less amount of simulator and a little more of a game. Having to wait an hour just to launch your ship so that you can meet up with a space station in orbit, is great for realism but not really too fun to play. This "simulator" is best played when you're working on another computer and you have stuff to do while you're waiting. I would recommend the game to anyone who enjoys RPGS and simulators for $6 you might as well try because theres nothing out there like this game. Unlike EVE online, Rise you actually control your ship with a joystick and manage your instruements from the cockpit. And yes there is atmospheric flight, not as good as orbiter because its just a think cloud cover and no details on the ground. The game has TONS of potential... Oh one more thing...you can build farms and mining stuff to harvest minerals and food.
