Good timing for it as well, as SWTOR will be a bit played out for mot by then. Now... where do I harrass Gameforge to go live with some PvE servers that limit PvP to the abyss/ instances..? |

I guess you can't expect big changes after the migration to the f2p servers, some time surely will be used to accommodate all issues who arise after that. Maybe a welcome event or so. Afaik the f2p model is about vip services to who purchases vip status, rather than opening cash shop. The call it "Gold Pack", accordly to the features page As RO done years ago when moved to f2p. It hopefully will avoid the usual pay2win witnessed in a lot of f2p games. Cheers^^ |

Seems to be the EU servers. Guessing I can't transfer my NA account onto there then. Oh well, as long as I can still make an account and play I don't care. |

I had a bunch friends who were playing and quit after 2-3 months. They never returned and even offered me their accounts as long as I pay the sub. They told me its very grindy with the same PvP and item grind every day. So I will still not play condidering I have my hands full with skyrim right now. If I get bored I still have star trek online releasing in Jan beforet his one and then maybe a few more weeks of this then hopefully GW2 |

But is Aion 'grindy'? Hell, some folk think getting out of bed to log on is 'grindy' so it's hard to say. A lot will probably still think it is, but it HAS improved a ton since launch in this area I believe. A ton of content has also gone in, though you aren't clear of when your friends played. If it was at launch then a LOT has happened since then. |

This is great news. NCWest were doing a terrible job at supporting this game and the monthly fee was not justified at all. Lineage II and seen a huge increase in population since it went F2P and that's an 8 year old MMO. Aion is a really good game and free to play can only do it some good.
The actual free to play model is really good as well, they could have really screwed over the playerbase but the fact previous players get all the features minus some decreased 'siege rewards' ( no one really got any anyway ) it's a bargin. The interview in which they said it would go FTP only included EUROPE. It specifically noted Western Europe, with UK, France, and German. So until someone can find a quote that NA will be included I won't get excited. I know korea and NCSOFT sees NA as just free money. Links for my sources. I think going F2P is the right choice for them. Also they have not gone into detail about what the restrictions for botting and real money transfer are. But they did specifically say you would be able to do the entire content of the game without class, level, or item restrictions for free. So even if they limit mailbox and amounts of money you can hold on the new F2P accounts, it's still VERY worth playing. This is not even close to what EQ2 is in terms of restrictions.
I have no evidence to support this except personal experience, but I'm sure this decision is in no smart part helped by the tremendous success Lineage 2 is seeing going f2p. They can't release new servers fast enough over there. The influx of players is insane. |
