It appears that there is definitely PvP on a number of fronts in KAion 3.0, although mixing PvP areas with non-PvP areas seems like it will become more common in the future if the 3.0 expansion is anything to judge by.

Contested Area

Entering a Contested Area



New 3.0 zones will have contested areas where the two races fight and kill each other. There will only be few zones that are contested, which can lead to very strategic battles. You can also expect some handsome rewards for your efforts. It would be wise to know which area is contested and which is not, so you can be prepared if the enemies do decide to attack.

Traits

Contested areas have things to do other than killing the opposing faction members. There are greater rewards for the tasks that hold a greater risk. These are the traits of the new contested areas:
 

• A named monster that drops powerful items.
• A chest that contains ancient artifacts and medals.
• Quests with better rewards.
• Quests that give many Krun’s mark
• A competitive zone that has constant battles with the other faction.

{Sarpan} The Discs of Combat



Location: 7 o’clock position of Sarpan.
Entrance: Teleporting device for each faction.

Traits:
1. A chest with ancient artifacts and medals.
2. Trade your PvP marks for Krun’s Mark.
3. PvP quests with the objective to kill the opposing faction.

[Sarpan] Divine Floating Isles



Location: 1 o’clock location of Sarpan.
Entrance: Have to activate the Ancient Wind Path.

Traits:

1. Good place to gather ingredients.
2. You can obtain additional items while gathering “Unknown Wind Objects”
3. You must have 400p in Aether Extraction and an item that enables you to gather Wind Objects.


[Tiamaranta] Golden Tartar



Location: 1 o’clock position of Tiamaranta inside a cave.
Entrance: Move to 1 o’clock position from DorDor’s Tree and have to click a boulder near the Cave’s entrance.

Traits:
1. You have to kill a legendary creature while fighting with the other faction.
2. Tradeable heroic items.
3. Tradeable heroic belts.


[Tiamaranta] Abystas the Aether Essence



Location: 7 o’clock position of Tiamaranta inside a cave.
Entrance: Click on the boulder blocking a cave near Hidden Boulder Temple.

Traits:
1. You have to kill a legendary creature while fighting with the other faction.
2. Tradeable Heroic Ring.
3. A new ring with a fancy look and stats.


[Tiamaranta] Center – Tiamat Army Camp



Location: Inside the castle walls of Tiamaranta Center
Entrance: Three entrances to the East, South and West of the castle walls.

Traits:
1. 8 Artifacts that can change the tides of the battle.
2. Level 59 ~ 60 dragon races.
3. Named monsters that drop items.
4. Monsters that drop Karun’s Mark
5. High reward quests.




[Tiamaranta]



Location: Basement of Center of Tiamaranta.
Etrance: Go down through the Southern Camp entrance of the Tiamaranta Center.

Traits:
1. 3 Artifacts that cause changes to the Tiamaranta Basement.
2. Level 60 Elite dragon races
3. Legendary Named monster
4. Monsters that drop Karun’s Mark
5. Basement has 2 floors.
6. Two wind paths that connect the first and the second floor.
7. Fountain of Fortune that drop a lot more Mithril Medals
8. High reward quests
9. Two paths that lead to the outside on the 2nd floor of the basement.



[Tiamaranta] Tiamaranta’s Eye



Location: Above grounds of the Tiamaranta Center.
Entrance: A race that has the 2 sources out of 4 in Tiamaranta. Which will open a path inside the Tiamat Army Camp.

Traits:
1. You can get AP and medals.
2. You get medals and ancient artifacts.
3. Named monster that drop good items.
4. Zones made for Solo & Group content.
5. Quests that give lots of Karun’s Marks
6. Cannot use kisks, once you relog you will be teleported outside.

It seems that there will be alot of PvP in 3.0 which is very nice!

Q: What for are those Karun Marks?

A: They trade for PvE weapons and armor. Although PvE the mergeable weapons have high quality for PvP.

1450 tokens for one eternal weapon. Also, for the same price you can get eternal wings with :
- HP
- MP
- Flight time
- Strike Resist
- Strike Fortitude

Yes.

There are contested areas and non-contested areas within the same new 55-60 zones.

Sarpian is mostly non-contested

If you consider also the insides of Tiamaranta base+eye in, about half of Tiamaranta zone is non-contested.

I see that word "careber" around foruns few times but i confess i have no idea what it means.

I suspect u call me that cause i dont wanna pvp in AION, maybe is that. 1st i dont like factions base gamess, i prefer L2 system, where palyers decide against who they want to make war.

I still like AION as a game but dont like it much as a mmo, so i might back there for 1 month or 2 only for pve, because pvp have no real objective in AION, unless personal scores. I prefer pvp with some group objectives and this dont exist in AION.

If i want personal scores i prefer FPS.

I am tempted to give it a go at 3.0 again as well... I wish they would throw up a fersh server for new starters and returners though... this rookie server thing is ok, but when you get to 46 you still have to deal with other players so much more powerful then you because of gear etc which cannot be beaten no matter how skilled you are.
