**26. Oct - currently updating some mixed up information, removing guesses, adding more details**

Contents/updates:

3.5 Gigs of 3.0 Patch, in contrast 2.0 had 1.5 Gigs

Levelcap: Raised to 60, 1-46 leveling speed in general as well as resting/slow leveling bonus adjusted upwards, Above lvl 10 3063 quests have their XP and consumable rewards increased to adjust leveling speed upwards.

XP requirements lowered: XP requirements for several level have been adjusted downwards in response to the raised levelcap

Example for XP on level 55. Old: 341,728,469 pt New: 186,211,811; If you have more XP than the new levelcap you automatically level up on the next login.

Rookie zone (cross-server leveling): Player from level 1-45 can enter a shared server with 20% increased XP, Its unknown how large serverpools will be. Player walk around with servertitles. Trading,shared loot, guildinvites etc restricted to some level. Broker, vendoring and mentor system will be not available on the shared server. Player above level 45 can not enter the shared server anymore. No Rifts usable. Only Sub 50 zones are available excluding the Abyss either.

This cross-server zone can be accessed like the old alternative channel in the Main Menu.

New No-PvP areas: Multiple areas within the new zones will prohibit PvP. Instead competitive PvE will be focus.

Hosuing zones: Two new larger housinggrounds have been added, one for each faction. Multiple locations like beaches, villages, port, mountain regions etc are available. They appear directly connected to the two faction capitals.

Housing: Reaching level 20+ player can aquire their own house or room. Every player can aquire a personal instanced room in larger community houses. On the other hand up to 500 unique plots with different sized house a open to be rented by player.

Community houses are restricted to internal decatorations (plants, images, furniture, crafting benches, wardrobes etc) Personal houses can be customized themself too (roofcolors, walltextures, doors), they also have a cutomizeable garden (plants, postboxes, lanterns fences etc). 

The houses can be accessed by friendly player if you want them to. You can also access them via a new summonaable portal directly moving you and friends to your house.

Legionshouses will be added later. Production/crafting can be done in houses. At specific community level even an AH can be built. NPCs and "other" buildings can be placed either.

New crafting skill - Carpentry: Should be obvious it will be mainly added for creating new furniture and material for houses. But probably some other stuff to like bows and staffs.

Mounts: Rideable mounts. Both for groundmovement and flying are available.

Controllable siege vehicles (PvE based): Provide the player with alternate healthbar, stats and controls over vehicle abilities.

UI: -Minor changes on classic UI interface

-Questitems received a new marker on their icons, to distinguish them easier from normal items.

Pets: Numerous new pets as usual *more coming*

New Reian capital city: Shared by both faction and the third Reian npc faction. Located in Sarpan.

Airships: (Will be entered but are used as access to new zones, not controllable)

Stigma: 6 Basic and 6 Advanced Stigma slots

Graphic updates: New lighting effects have been added to HQ settings

New Skill type: Comboskill with multiple charges of use have been added for all classes. Some combo skills triggered or unlocked by 1st tier combo skills have multiple (2-5) charges for attacks. These attacks can be used immidiately one after another.

While combatant mounts, physical weather effects (i.e rising waterlevels) and underwater zones have been said not to make it into 3.0 update at least until now a few months ago in an interview with the producer of Aion, housing, non-combatant mounting, as well as more crucible type PvE/PvP combat zones and rehaul of the Abyss siege system, have been affirmed to be on schedule for 3.0 at the same time.

Its from the devs themself. No rumor. They may not be talking about everything and not about definite promises but plans and schedules or lack thereoff.

Tera already is know to be a failure, don't hope for too much. As for Aion 3.0, it's quite sad that NcSoft nearly completely removes pvp from the game and makes Aion something like Sims 4 where all items can be bought for real money from an item shop.

NCsoft has nothing to fear from TERA cause even if TERA does better here in the west it will still not match the numbers they have in Korea. Aion is on top at 14% of the market played while TERA only has 3%. While 3% isn't a lot it still keeps it on the top 10 list of games played. We wont see any spikes in popularity with it untill they come up with some kind of update so considering it's production cost, it is definitely underpreforming.

Why the hell is a game full of flying characters adding flying mounts?

Probably because players kept asking for mounts. Want mounts. Mounts. Mounts. We want mounts.

So they were inclined to put them in.

and since we walk and run but sitll use mounts for walking and running it probably then goes to the next level whereby the Daevas fly and glide so their mounts can to.

You may have become accustomed to percive flying mounts as tool to enable flying, due to playing some alternative games where that has been the case, but thats just them. Aion is Aion. Granting the ability to fly is not much of a feature of a flying mount, if you can fly without a mount or any other help anyway. Doesnt make it obsolete however. The perk of mounts or flying mounts can aswell be merely faster movement or buffs or combat abilities..

 

Next to the Abyss, Tiamaranta (and maybe the new housing zones/areas) seems to be the only zone however where flying mounts could be actually usefull to pass greater distances fyling not just for some small leaps. I think most/all flying mounts are hybrids both used for grounmovement and flying, next to some ground only mounts.

I wonder if flying mounts will be able to fly anywhere in the zones or will there still be invisible walls everywhere.

But at least potentially, the advantage that flying mounts may give would probably be to allow flight in non-aether rich zones and to allow for extended or possibly unlimited flight time. I wonder if these mounts will be usable in the abyss. That could change everything.

I think the flying mounts will be as much restricted to aether rich areas as normal player have been before. Theres nothing indicating anything else yet and post Alpha introduced maps arent built with that intended anyway, even when I wish they where. However they said before they have been keen on drawing "flying" much more into the game than before. They introduced a whole lot more "occassion" with vertical aligned spots requiring you to fly. The new laval core arenamap is just one another. It looks like Tiamawhateverzone has some larger aether zones than the past ones either. Guess flying is going to take some more presence in Aion.

And yes. I am certain flying mounts will be available in the Abyss. Most likely because as far as I know new 60 Abyssgear gives an explicit "mounted flying boost" too. They could change a whole lot on the gameplay in the Abyss. Atleast lead to more traffic for AP exchange to the core.

The mounts are beatiful and speedy, the new skils are great, new zones, the housing, new instances for raid, party 12/6 and solo...

I bet this will really change Aion, from what we know. Maybe it will be the 2012 mmortpg blockbuster :)

Now we just need to wait...

Accepting bets for live in EU/US... 3 months from now? In February/2012
