With new titles like Archeage and the second&;third major update for TERA on the horizon NCSoft offered some glimps into the upcoming 3.0 content expansion of Aion likely going to compete with those, after the reveal of the 2.7 update.

A short summary of anything interesting that has been revealed until now:


The major perks:

1. A new major faction will join Aion (unclear whether they are playable or an active NPC race like the Balaur).
2. Player housing will definitely be implemented in 3.0.
2.1 Amongst other thing cube space will be addressed with houses.
2.2 Houses are supposed to be nothing exceptional but accesable for everyone.
3. More PvP centric (minigame-/sportstyle) Crucible instances will be added like in 2.7


General/unclear changes:

4. NO mounts in 3.0 will make it into 3.0
    instead a new alternative travel system will be added.
5. NO flooding/underwater combat will make it into 3.0
6. NO further graphical updates for 3.0
7. (Over)protection of lower level zones will be changed
    (not reduced/removed) to help rifting become viable/possible again.
8. Too long cooldowns for dungeons will be reduced.
9. The 2.8 class changes where made in preparation for the 3.0 update.
10. New type of medals after Platinum medals will be added for higher tier gear.

Story: While 2.0 was about invading Balaurea, 3.0 player will lead an all out attack against Tiamaranta after the near destruction of both factions by Tiamat. The later event caused the 3rd faction to rise up.
