How easy would it be for me to jump right into the middle of the game and fit in, with it being the middle of their most recent expansion pack and all?

"King of the MMOs"? When was this? Also, Aion is real easy to pick up. The newb zone is very easy to navigate and all the quests give you a great wayt o get used to the game.

As much as I love Aion, I'm not sure I'd call it the "King of MMOs". Still, I can hope there'll be even more of a resurgence in population after 3.0! As for getting into it, it's easier now than ever with the changes to droprates, questing, and rifts. There are also benefits to playing the Asmodian faction on Zikel, Siel, and Israphel (NA servers, not sure of the EU ones) right now as they are slightly (or extremely, depending on your server) underrepresented. These bonuses include 50 +50% exp boosters for each character that last until level 50, so definitely a good way to catch up. I can't speak for other servers/factions, but Asmo-side on Israphel is very pleasant and well populated with groups running all day at all levels. We're lagging behind a little bit in Upper Forts, but now that we've been added to the incentive program I think we'll see better turnouts! |

Aion is in no way a king, queen, prince or princess of MMO's. A good game yes, but a long way from being the king. |

Funny? I thought Rift was the new king? Or was it maybe Eve? Or maybe it actually IS that 11 million plus pound gorilla over there in the corner :D! |

I saw the article about current game rankings too about 3 weeks ago. I made the switch and haven't looked back. It's pretty easy to get up and running. Kill "x" amount of this, and collect "x" amount of that. Standard MMO fare. What sets it apart are the graphics. Amazing world. I love being able to fly without a mount. I'm not a fan of the gankers while I'm leveling, but you take the good with the bad. |

Gankers are a problem with every game that has any kind of pvp.
That list was pretty good, Turd.
I read about Aion. About their expacs being free. The fact that they just released a huge content patch that not only helped make things easier leveling up, but totally revamped the graphics as well. Making the game on par with AoC and Rift, graphics-wise. I also read something about NCSoft giving Aion players a ton of free stuff just for keeping their accounts active. I have to say, all of that sounds amazing. When I started my research, I expected a WoWesque type game, and was pleasantly surprised to see that NCSoft actually appears to care about their subscribers. Even if it's not "literal". |

Originally posted by Golelorn The best parts of Aion, for me, are the facts that a) it's one of the few games outside of the Darkfall crowd where world PvP is alive and well (thank you, lack of battlegrounds!) and b) there's no raiding end-game. All the gear I need I can accrue from 6-man instances and PvP. Add in the fact that there's a ton of social/fluff features with more on the way, and Aion is definitely one of the few themeparks breaking the mold that Rift is painfully stuck in. |

Originally posted by waynejr2 I am not sure you're understanding how one becomes king. Seriously though, I get what you are meaning. I scratched my head too when I saw the "Aion is the new King of MMOs" line. It seems to have come out of nowhere. parrotpholk-Because we all know the miracle patch fairy shows up the night before release and sprinkles magic dust on the server to make it allllll better. |
