The gold spam problem is over and the bot problem will be fixed in time I'm sure. I have 3 level 30 toons and I haven't seen a single bot yet...*knock on wood* NCsoft has been great so far listening to the community so the problem will be solved soon enough.

Gold spamming is not that bad, a small percentage still spam once and a while, but easy to block them. Now the bots are a different issue. Seems like their are a lot but not really that many as people say, yes they are still a nuisance to most but i do see some getting banned with in 10 to 12 days after i report them.

Some servers are worse with bots than others, but i believe that has to do with the amount of gold buying occuring on that server. Caught a few guild botters also and also reported them. So far have not gotten to a point that they have frustrated me yet, so i say give it a try, you just may like it.

Yah i work Blizzard since i dont' play WoW they broke that with the new expansion..  So um yah your still wrong there still gold spam and millions of bots

You're sorta...dumb.

How many servers are you playing on?  Do you have toons on -all- of them?  I'd guess not.  So you have no way of knowing what's going on beyond the specific servers you play on.  Why don't you stfu and go play your little ballerina game and quite LYING about how it is. 

Pro Tip; when a game isn't -shit-, it sells itself, and stands up to criticism, without barely-literate forum douchebags frothing at the mouth in weak-ass attempts at defending it.  Just an FYI.

You know the Aion community is quickly pulling in a close second for @$$hats of the industry with the comments I constantly read from you all.

People complain about a lack of questing and the overriding act I see on his/her posts are a bunch of Aion fanbois telling him/her if they don't like to grind mobs go back to wherever they came from etc..  This guy comes on and expresses a valid concern with Aion as far as bot's go and another as far as free trials go and within five replies atleast three of them weren't even worth reading.

Newsflash guys someone having an opinion different than your own does not automatically make them your enemy and that's even if they say something about something you think the world of.

I actually agree with the op but I need to add that most of the mmorpg community in game is another reason to avoid if the post replies I seem to notice on here are any indication.

Okay, what puzzles me is that how can such a new game, which has no free trial, be so infested with bots? After all it cost some good money to buy the game....?

I think thisbot-spamming is or at least have been a fact; I even read an interview here at MMORPG a while ago where this question was adressed to Aion.

Well, I could have been tempted to try it, but that the ignore list has a limitation is a concern (if I understood this ignore limitation correct?) Can this ignore cap be fixed with some addons like in WoW?

Just as an FYI - WoW's forums were COVERED with "OMG this game is shit " posts for a LONG ass time. So you just proved absolutely notiing.

Point? You're the one who's a dumb ass... games that do well are flocked by the haters to sway other's opinion about that given game...

The ignore list limitation was only a concern when the spammers were active. Since they have done away with most of them, I have not had to use ignore except on a name here and there. I doubt that a person would reach the list cap. I never reached mine and I have played since opening. You won't see third party add-ons, since movement and such is not client based but server based. This prevents people from running like superman or teleporting to places they shouldn't be able to, like in WoW. There were terrible hacks/exploits in that game.

Also, third party add-ons give people no incentive to actually play the game. People just installed add-ons and became lazy. WoW also needed add-ons due to the fact that you couldn't macro game affecting abilities. You could macro targeting and a few things but not spells (or chains of spells rather) since there was no delay feature for spell casting of abilities such as warrior strikes.

In Aion, there is a built in macro system that allows you to macro spell chains and in-game abilities. This coupled with the fact that you can hotbar basically any command in the game, including the autoreport command for those pesky bots, should really diminish any real need for third party add-ons. If they allow add-ons in the future, we'll have another game where we have to find and install 30 other programs on top of the main game just to play. Somehow, I would be happier if Aion does not go down this path.

I find addons a way of pimping my gameplay and my user interface. It is not given that the standard setup of a game is enough to give me good enough gaming experience. Thats why i choose some extras for my new cars too.

WoW understood this, and most addons I "wanted" in WoW have now become standard. Like auto-self cast. It is truly a huge difference. If you ask me, the addon-creators are actually helping the game industry getting better. If theres a demand, there will be supply.

There was a actually a time I found WoW so awful without addons that I wouldnt even play it. That says alot about the effect of the addons, at least for me.

Anyway, I found much encouraging reading here, so by reading all the comments, I have'nt made up the decision to NOT play it, but rather moving more towards that it can be an actual idea.
