Interesting.  So which pvp-enabled mmorpg has a system that favors this so-called skill?

And as an edit to this.  I find it so damn laughable that the OP equates another players defensive tatics, even if its popping wings and running, to lack of skill.

OP you need to learn that PvP isnt all about running face to face and seeing who comes out on top. Wings are a very good method of escape if you are out geared or out leveled (usually the latter)  Aion puts lower level players at a huge disadvantage but thats kinda how it should be. If you know how to play your class then you should be fine in most 1v1 situations. My advice is to stay away from healers because we will just laugh and watch our DoTs eat you as we heal.

And stay away from Gladiators. I dueled a Sin 4 levels above my Gladiator and didn't drop below 1k HP. Then in the Abyss I had a Sin jump me while I was fighting a mob and at 3/4 health. I killed the mob and the Sin.

Oh and for the record. Aion is a Group PVP game, it is not designed around 1v1.

I tried to write a good post, but the forum screwed me over 2 times already.

Here goes the short version:

Assassins suck in solo PvP. They shine in group PvP. Like it or not, it's how it works. If you're lookin for a FOTM, make ranger or sorc.

as the title says, it becomes really apparent that pvp in this game lacks any real skill. I'm a level 39 sin, i spent 4 hours in the abyss yesterday devoted to ganking people, and 2 hours devoted to just killing guards.

As a solo player in the abyss its extremely frustrating how easily (and frequent) players can just pop wings and run away. The rediculous utility from pots in this game.. 1v1 i'd say 90% of the people just run away, and its literally impossible to kill someone once they start to run.

I then gathered 5 other buds and went around roaming for pvp, the whole person running away was gone. But I found it extremely shallow roaming around picking off people one by one or in groups of 3. The situation where we came across another group of 6 never came up. in the end we ended up getting zerged by an alliance of 24 people, strength in numbers i guess is the solution.  Rifting was actually even worse, i think we probably killed the same bots about 20 times, which became extremely boring. After 4 hours of abyss ganking and rifting i gathered 4k abyss points.

On the flip side after killing guards for 2 hours i actually gained 8k abyss points, anyone that tried to gank me i just popped wings and ran away (its just way to easy).

I could talk about fortress sieges, but they're not really pvp in my opinion. I'm sure anyone that has played a fortress siege and is genuine about their experience would agree.

Honestly, i can really see most of my points being even worse as people progress to higher ranks in pvp and the abyss points lost are even more substantial. I have NOOO clue why they made it so you can get pvp points from pve, it just boggles my mind. But i can seriously see a huge flaw in that system from a game boasting "hardcore" pvp.

There's no reason a good solo sin can't get kills in the abyss.  I'm just a lowly gladiator, but I know a bit about sins, and a lot about ganking...  If you can start your gank with your aether's hold move, you're in good shape.  From there you can start your stunning attacks.  With aethertwisting and FE, you should be able to resist the opposing player's initial root or sleep or counter attack.  If they pot and run, you have your 20% speed buff skill, and can also use a fligth scroll/run scroll if you need.  Using a heal pot you can also remove most slows.  With this speed advantage plus your teleport attacks you should be able to track down a lot of players.

Rangers, casters, sins, chanters should all be good targets for you.  Templars, clerics and glads will be your most difficult ganks due to survivability and escapability.  DOn't even try to take on a temp or glad with unwavering devotion as you will not be able to stun them.  If a cleric doesn't go down in a reasonable time, give up and move on.

Lastly, try to gank areas where the enemy has limited escape routes.  Good luck ganking somebody standing next to a guard tower.

One more note, as a stealth class, watch where you stealth.  Good players will have enemy actions up on radar and can see your stealth message.  If you spook them this way they will often get a head start on running away or preparing to fight you.
