Because you like to quote Xfire numbers, this is all you need to know.

 

One week after launch, Aion's Xfire numbers were at over 14,000 users playing per day

As of right now, it's at 7,681 users per day.  That's almost a 50% loss.  Of course it's #2 on Xfire.  Look what's behind it:

Eve Online

Cabal Online

 

Keep those Xfire numbers coming

It is dishonest to describe an MMORPG with one word.

But the overall idea behind Aion is one of "the lying part of the subscriptions in the east, through internet hype'.

ONE sentence (not even verified or controlled) on IGN.com ... permitted a Korean game to  "almost" have 400K western pre-orders at the launching day.

NCsoft dropped the mask completely now that they sell the thing tyhrough Xfire even (hereby oversampling the game once more against other MMO's that don't distribute it that way).

So clearly tha game's marketing was more important than it's playing values

And I think most of its players will have seen what that exaclty means in game.

So my one word would be: internet-marketing.

Everyone knows there's the typical 400K MMO jumpers who jump from one new launch to the next. Those were the ones that were attracted.
