Hello everybody,

Yes, there is alot of frustration about the current server situation being in a queue or the queue so full you cannot even join the queue. This is normal for a game on release day. If you have never played a MMORPG before on release day welcome to release day of a highly anticipated MMO, at least the game servers are not crashing.

Please refrain yourselves from posting more threads about the current server queue and just let any frustrations out here.

Cheers

My thread had a poll and lot of constructve posts about this issue.

Why was it deleted? [ The poll about Aion beeing one of the worst planned releases ever ] ?

I have been with mmorpg for 5 years nwo.. and its the first time i see stuff like this happening here.

Aion, AoC, AC, AO, DAoC, DDO, Entropy, Eve, Eq2, GW, MW3, L1, L2, RF, SWG, TR, UO, WOW, WAR

No offense but normal?

Normal for launch day? Sure.

Normal for a head start day? Been playing MMO's for 10 years and never seen it.

I just gave up after seeing my numbers drop from 2500 or so and a 3.5 hour wait to 2100 and a 6+ hour wait. So much for a "head start". Had I known the head start was sitting in a queue I wouldn't have pre-ordered the game.

What a way to dangle the carrot in front of the customer and then take it away at the last moment. It is anything but professional and while I have seen many bad launches, I have never seen a bad "head start" day.

I wonder how many more people will start the game on launch day. I can't even guess.

Good, then you remember the mass amount of lag and server crashes. Launch or not, same thing applies. Maybe you guys should have waited instead and watched how the game played out, usually the best idea for those that are still on the fence or lack patience and understanding.

All I am saying is that in having a very short headstart and limited servers (even if for good reason like packing them in before adding more) this was a foreseeable problem and NCsot should have been out front with info.  Heck, they make us install this bloated stupid launcher with full html pages so why is this info not there, and for that matter why can you not select the server and queue there so you don't need a full game window open.  It comes down to poor customer service, they had to know this was an issue so not being better prepared to inform people or to make the queues easier to deal with for people is a mess.  or being caught off guard and not having enough servers is a mess - either way it is a mess.

You cannot just go around offering a couple days early play for pre orders then not be prepared to deliver that, as it stands now a lot of people will not get as much as maybe half that play and it is for preventable reasons, not the end of the world in terms of global crisis but in terms of buying something from a company it is pretty lame.

Exactly WoW had a bad launch week or 2. But like he states this isn't launch day this is head start. Where they know exactly the amount of numbers needed for a smooth start.

What ppl aren't taking into consideration is that this is just a head start. Think ques are bad now? you just wait until the actual launch day. If they can't plan server caps properly with known numbers how well do you think they are going to do once they don't know what the influx is going to be?

I don't really think the servers are full but ncsoft is managing people entering the server for lag and to balance populations.

Unless you wanted to have an over populated race you shouldn't whine.

You still don't get it. There is a huge difference between this being launch day and a head start. They knew how many to expect today and they knew what to expect and they still can't deliver on it. Can you imagine what will happen Tuesday when the launch becomes official?

5 Hr 37 minute wait..    lol.

That seems a little excessive.    Considering the whole game is copies of zones and instances they'd be able to manage this better.

On top of that, your "amazing community"  is disallowing you to play by setting up their AFK Shops!
If I were in control of this scenario, I'd disable that shyte for the first week or 3.

I've been registered here a long time, I read daily. I just don't have much to say.

Nah I get it, I was smart enough to forsee this, and figured I would wait a few days to actually get the game. The game is two hours into head start, I'm sure they see all the crying and such. I'm pretty sure they are working on getting more servers up to solve the queue problem. And trust me, I imagined it, which is why I'm sitting back watching the show. This is probably one of the biggest reasons I never pre-order MMOs or join them on launch. So with that said, yes it's there fault for not opening up a few more servers, but I think you are just as responisble for not waiting it out or thinking about worst case senarios .

So now its the consumers fault? Really?

I guess I should apologize then for believing them when they said "head start". I should forget that I played MMO's for 10 years and have never had an issue during the head start period. I guess I should forget that they dropped the ball on this one and I should only blame myself.

I always plan worst case scenario and I didn't even plan to play on Tuesday which is the official launch day. But this is a head start for pre-orders, they knew how many were pre-ordering and the kind of numbers they were looking at.

I am sorry I expect a little professionalism and competency from a company.

well guys...the line to get in wasnt always there. I got in 2 hours ago and played to lvl 3 and then got dc'd because i accidentally switched my Wireless LAN off(theres a switch on the front of my laptop- horrible place to put a switch like that ASUS...). Then i ran to get some food. when i got back there was this line and some immediate frustration.

I don't care if you have played MMOs for 10, 20, 30 years. Even with that what exactly have you learned? Apparently nothing. It's like this, when WoW released I actually got the game on release and experience some pretty unplayable crap. I didn't run to the forums and start whining about it. I didn't blame Blizzard, I knew they was working on it. Since then I no longer pre-order MMOs, and If I did. I wouldn't expect much.

Did I not already say it's there fault for not using the information given in releasing more servers? I think I did.

You expect professionalism and competency from MMO companies anymore? I gave up on that a few years ago. Oh yeah, that's why I don't pre-order anymore.

QFT. Believe it or not this has been a smooth launch. As much as I hate queues, I think that more people are willing to put up w/ wait times, than deal w/ WARs mistake of having too many servers.

Well, for all intent and purposes it is launch day. There are 400k preorders. At launch of wow there was something like 240k preorders in NA with record setting numbers of about 200k concurrent players.

So this is double that. That is not to imply anything as wow was huge when it came out years ago and now the mmo space is larger. But it does hint at larger and larger populations at mmo head starts and launches than a few years ago.

What solution do you suggest that would not be counterproductive to the current efforts to balance race and server loads?

Just gotta come here to add my "BULLSHIT" too.

Personally, I got into my chosen server within the first 5mins of headstart.  I wasted no time, leveled ahead of everyone and was one of the first 20 players to level 5, followed by level 6.  After nearly 1.5hrs of play, pushing through lag and scores of players (in any channel), everything stopped again.  I figured "oh, another lag spike".  Nope, about 60s later "You have been disconnected from server."  Insult to injury was, of course, the kick all the way to windows.  Reload the game, relog, and click my server a few times to get in.  Oh, there's a queue....

I honestly didn't mind the DC.  I didn't mind getting booted to desktop because of it.  I didn't mind the hitching in-game, or the death I ate because of it.  I didn't even mind the hoards of players slaughtering everything in sight until I left them behind.  What I DID mind, was sitting in that queue for over 45 minutes, watching my number drop from 876 to start (estimated 44min wait) to 330~ (under 20mins left - bogus estimate times), patiently sitting here knowing my turn would come, keeping my mouse moving (so the game didn't think I was idle and disconnect me), and then miraculously getting disconnected.  I actually wouldn't be so pissed, if it weren't for the fact that now I'm stuck at the back of a line of 3200 players, with an estimated 8 hour queue time.

It's not like there aren't other things I can do - I'm gladly going to.  It's simply the principle that these guys have known now, for quite a while, what this launch would be like.  I'm not an employee sitting at NCSoft with access to numbers of preorders, yadda yadda, and I'm a huge advocate of server balance and race balance.  I'm pissed, however, at the fact that the software itself just let thousands of other players butt in front of me in line.  I'm pissed that there weren't enough servers to handle this load because they very easily could've gotten a happier middle ground between too many and not enough servers.  Unfortunately, they're on the very far end of "not enough" right now, because an 8hr line is ludicrous (and the time decreases far more slowly than actual time at the lower end).  This just should've been handled better.

All said, still a nice launch, but this is gonna piss a lot of people off, and I'm sure there's tons of people playing the game as I type that won't even bother to continue doing so (cancelled preorders, still riding their keys) but are just using this as a 2-3 day trial.  Regardless, NCS simply needed to have more.

That next time they do not advertise a "head start" if they can't handle it. Simple as that.

Do you know how sad and pathetic you sound? This is a head start its not launch WHO CARES!!! NCsoft had no way of knowing how many ppl would play yes thay had pre order numbers, but how are they to know who would use the head start and who was simply pre ordering to insure they get a copy of the game release day, or who was ordering simply to get the in game items?? I am sure they could have spent time and resources opening up 500 servers to anticipate the head start launch but why do that for a FREAKING TWO DAY HEAD START especially if noone used the head start. I played the open beta and never not even one time did I have a queue, and im sure NCsoft saw that and figured it wasnt worth the resources to focus on making a headstart 100% smooth, and I dont blame them for that one bit i'd rather they focus their resources on release day, and im sure they would rather focus on that too. I've played MMO's for 6 years and I have seen head starts that had issues like this so its not surprising, I dont know what crap unknown games u played that had100% smooth head starts the most recent head start I was in was WAR and it was in no way smooth.
