Seems like Aion got off to a flying start in China, after being a #1 hit in Korea.

What do you guys think, will it continue the increasing rate of subs? what are your predictions for the NA/EU release?

I've been playing the Chinese version and have enjoyed it very much; everyone I ask to try out the game has loved it, as well. However, I don't think it's going grab 1,000,000 active subscribers in NA/EU as fast as it did in China, and whatever the subscription numbers might be in the other regions.

There's still a lot of NA players who don't want to try it due to fear of bot infestation, they think it's a grind-fest because it's an Asian title, how long it's took to get out (people STILL consider it vaporware lol), and other issues. These issues won't stick of course, but it is going to slow the launch down quite a bit.

On the other hand, a good amount of US players have got to experience Aion now from the Chinese beta and retail and the feedback has been nothing but positive and seems to be recieved well. But I can see how the game won't be for everyone, just from the cosmetics, the fact there isn't anything really and truly revolutionary. It will still have a strong following, tho, especially from the FFXI players and such.

I think it's all good news for Aion, tho. Let's hope the population trend continues climbing :)

I don't think the game will fail, I think it's going to be one of the more succesful MMOs we've seen since WOW. I just know the problems it's had in the past, and will have in the future. The fact that the launch SHOULD be one of the smoothest we've ever seen is going to help the game out more than you can imagine. If it goes half as smooth as the Chinese launch did, we're gonna be fine.

The stigma (Heh...) of terrible Korean F2P L2 clones will undoubtedly keep MANY potential players away from even trying Aion.

... I originally wrote a long explanation regarding L2's unreal engine 2 and such.. but I think this will sum it up better:

If you ever need to convince your friends, or anyone else that still maintains this stigma and refuses to even try Aion, just tell them Aion is from NCsoft.

Now, before they slap your face and tell you L2 is also from NCsoft and they hate L2, grab their swinging arm, caress their face gently with your other hand, lean in close to them, and explain to them in a loving voice that NCsoft also published City of Heroes/Villains, which to date still has the MOST customizable character creator, and Guild Wars, which allows you to create a max level character upon first log in.  NCsoft has never released ANY L2 clone game in the western market to date, and they are not about to start with Aion.

She cuts me into a thousand beautiful pieces...

I hear it very often about lots of game.. through my time this is going to beat all records etc.. still there is lots of mmo in asia that surpas WoW by masses playing and income made. But here in west we only relate to WoW as it is the best game ever...

Synthetick, I came back to the forums to find the thread you posted on getting on the chinese version and downloading the english patch. I tired it lastnight but nothing worked for me and when I tried searching for the link a while ago it can't be found.

Was it removed? if so would you mind messaging me the info and also the trouble shooting fixes; I purchased the game for the small fee like you said, but upon downloading there were issues, not sure if I needed a torent but I just selected "save file" maybe that was the cause?

Any suggestions?

First of all it says 1 million over 5 servers, that is an unrealistic number. That number is further substantiated when you realize they charge using a by the hour time card as one form of payment,so IMO they are calculating everytime a charge is paid as being a paid user. That could easily equate to MUCH less users probably 1/4 is a fair assumption. So that would be 250k and of that i would bet 50k are RMT.RMT look for any new game they deem to be a success and spam with all their resources.IF RMT decide AION should be the next big game to infest ,50k is actually a small number as there is literally hundreds of rmt sites and millions of rmt players. As a matter of fact ,the 1 million number posted is based strictly off of those time card sales, through their stock market numbers.

It has already been noted that NCSOFT is a haven for RMT as is already AION,this is because they are very lack on ridding their games of RMT activity,IMO they have inside people working with them,i calculate this on my own personal experience dealing with NCSOFT while playing L2.After several emails and several responses by NCSOFT stating they don't believe there is any botting, told me they are full of crap.NCSOFT does not deserve ANY support as far as i am concerned.

Actually i think the game has 5 Regions not 5 servers i think i read it has 5 regions and each region has 15 or more servers to choose from

There are 6 regions already, can't confirm since I play on the Korean servers, but it has around 80 servers in China already.

And yeah wizardry, we already know you don't like this game without even trying it out nor knowing what you talk about, you can give it a rest buddy.

Asia is the market that most companies want to dominate, thats where you get the really big subscription numbers, not Europe or North America.

WoW has about 2.5 million NA players, in the EU there is about 2 million, the rest is made up by Asia over 5.5 million subs.

If Aion is hitting 1 million subs already then thats a good indication it's going to grow as it opens up to more countries, and tbh it would be nice to have another MMO out there able to compete with WoW, more real competition is good for the consumers.

From someone that enjoys FFXI this comment surprises me. Did you believe everyone that accused Square of the exact same thing a few years back? Were you aware that some people said this of SE?

Square Enix and Ncsoft both started regulating their games and getting rid of scores of RMT accounts at around the same time. Though maybe SE was first. NC Austin is also gone mainly responsible for poor western service.

Will Aion be the next big thing? Most probably. Will it outdo WoW? Not sure, but Blizzard is definetly more concerned than they were with AoC, and everyone remembers their position on that...

That said, very few people (in relative proportion to those whom have actually played) have had really much if anything negative to say about it. In fact, if you scry the web, you will be hardpressed to find negative press. This is extremly unusal for an mmo, and speaks radically well of NCSoft's dev team.

In conclusion, never mind Wizard... he is more smoke than anything else...
