Was wondering if Aion will have free expansions like L2 had. Cause that would be very nice

while i wouldn't be surprised if they did this (i believe lineage 2 has had what? 8+ 'free' expansions now?), i wouldn't be surprised if they did release retail box expacks for this game.

either way, expect huge amounts of content to be added after launch and well into the future to subscribers.

i think they r just free,, why would ncsoft let you pay for them?... they r not the one that developt guildwars or any other where you had to pay for., they just published those games. so i geuss its the same as l2, you pay2play included with the updates. [and lineage2 is a greatt game]

FOllowing Ncsoft's tradition, i bet there will be, although i dont think of them as expansions, more then Big Patches. I also will almost gurantee that one or tow of em will have new classes lol, always do with anything relating to NCsoft lol.

main ncsoft korea aka the developer will likely be free expansion just like their lineage2 and i highly believe that Aion will have free expansions since Aion is developed by themself unlike guildwars.

It's possible there will be both free expansions in the form of big patches as well as larger scale paid expansions. I wouldn't necessarily look at previous titles and set my mind in stone, there's plenty of other examples that proves this model works well, especially in the west. I don't believe anything has been officially announced though.

There will be big, regular expansions once or twice a year. How they are to be distributed depends on the area.

i hope that they run it like L2 so its just patches.

i am 99% sure expansions will be free jus like lineage2 since it is not made by american.  asian mmos method of how expansions work is usually free that adds new stuff to the current game/world where everybody can access and get a hold of.

while american mmos method of expansions is it is individual making people to buy it. those that dont buy cant access the new stuff in the expansion. wow and guild wars are like this. (but i think paying expansion for guild wars is ok since it is not really a mmo like wow)

i like the way asian mmos did.

for me.. paying for expansions in a mmo is a no no. paying for expansions in a single player game is a yes yes.

patch update is not same as expansions. patch updates are usually small fixes and small adds.. while expansions is something big that is being added. every mmo have free patches updates.

DO NOT assume that's the way it's going to be for sure just because the game is made in Korea by NCsoft... They are looking at western mmo models for Aion, so realistically it could very well go both ways, free and paid expansions, like LotrO. Or one or the other, we just don't know yet.

Correction, there's little to indicate either way... This reminds me of when MMOsite people kept trying to convince everyone Aion would be/might be F2P or B2P.... *roll eyes*

mmosite is an asianize mmo site. most people there are minors and plays only  free2play. so its not a suprise hearing some darnest thing.

but saying aion expansions will be free is believable but then again the fact that they aiming in western style model.. who knows..... however i have high feeling it will be free expansions just like lineage2.

I suspect a mix of huge content patches and seeing a Xpac every now and then.
