This is an example of a smart gamer, even if he dislikes the game, he realizes that there are great benefits for gamers from competitive market.

Improve Aion's Graphics with a simple text file that you can create by yourself:

-Increase in-game Field of View to 175% or more

-Increase view distance for players to 100 meters with camera at max distance

-Lots of other settings

Learn how by reading this guide at Aionsource

Ok, wait a minute. I'd expect that from the delusional misfits that run rampant here, but this seemed odd coming from you, Grandpa. So, when something like that comes from one of the more lucid and rational members of the community, I really am curious what prompts it.

Is it that you feel that false financials is an NCSoft thing, a game industry thing or just a makreting thing in general? I'm not asking this to try to prove you wrong or shoot down your argument, and if I find that I disagree with your position I promise I shall keep my mouth shut. I'm really interested, though, in why you feel the number is a lie.

Well when you consider some of the financial reports that were coming out after Tabula Rasa... I do not find it hard to see a financial statement going up this much from a very successful launch.

You also have to consider the contribution of NCSofts traditional market and the large number of servers running in China.

So that would be my personal perspective on that.  Also since there is an NCSoft west office located in the US... I'm not sure providing false financial statements would be a good idea.

Typical thread: Blocked, blocked, blocked, intellegent post I may not agree with, blocked, blocked, blocked, intellegent post I may agree with, blocked, blocked...

I do think it will do well but I stand by my 250k - 300k subscriber base guess.

I think that subscriber base is a good call. It's not a game for everybody but it is solid. I will say that my biggest complaint is not with the game itself but the people who run it. I find the customer service pretty piss poor and I really hope they improve that part of it.

Good for NC Soft. Its all about retention though so next quarter we will see what that looks like.

Anyway great news for ncsoft , Aion is a nice game.

Look at the number of servers and you know exactly this game doesn't grow anymore.

It simply lost players EN MASSE.

If it did lose players EN MASSE as you say, server I played on hasn't felt it. It is full of players and the server density didn't change at all. It is always Full at peak times and Recommended at other times, just like one of the most populated WoW servers Kazaak used to be. In fact I see people at off-peak hours on Gorgos more than I used to see on Kazaak ^^. Understandable however, seeing as the kids are usually asleep/ at preschool/school.

But you wouldn't know, would you, fiddling with Xfire numbers trying to prove that "AION FAILS" with every little bit of energy you have. You come across as a sad, sad human being tbph. Pathetic.

Do you have queuing lines? Nope.

Does every server show LOCKED at prime time? Nope.

Did they add servers to the rather low number of 14 NA/18 EU? Nope.

So it clearly is a sign that the servers are no longer stressed and the max capacity of those servers (200 to 240K) is never reached anymore.

ALL in accordance with what the oversampled samples of Xfire shows. 50% players just left. A 24/7 on line sample base of 14K users is WAY to BIG. (on line samples 24/7 of 1K users is MORE than enough to have valuable working data).

Get over it, Aion was surpassed by EVE as second most played subscription based MMORPG in the west.

... only 4 weeks after it launched.

So their target was missed.

Ok, ok. Calm down.

Aion is dying and they dropped the ball. You've been heard and you're right.

Satisfied? I hope so.

Hate this game now that you've been heard at Aion forums, please.

836% LOL ... are they mad or is it a typo? Worst lie in history of capitalism

Just waiting someone with more time on their hands to calculate this number a bit.

Done.

Last year their income from July - September would have been around $4.8million USD. Multiply that times 836% and you get a bit over $40m USD.

Really not that far fetched at all considering currency conversions for the game prices in China and Korea vs. game prices in the EU and NA.

EDIT: It sounds like alot more than it is when you put it into % form.

I'd like to see that aswell.. Haha I did enjoy the game for the most part but I've since ended my subscription due to the release of Dragon Age: Origins.

Nice to hear this, hope they use the money well. Aion is a good game, especially for Korean standards. Hope NCsoft learns more from Aion success in NA, and apply it to Blade and Soul project.

Im really surprised that im the only who questions this  claim of an 800% increase in profits. I just quickly scanned the link to be sure that is what was stated before my previous post as after making sure of the number claimed I discredited the whole aritcle. Its not just this industry its, as you put it, marketing in general.  To be short and to the  point, I think these numbers are a lie but then again i never believed the sub numbers Blizzard spits out either. Lets just say im very skeptical of accountants and their findings.

LOL

About the news, hopefully the devs will get the message that to be succesful you have to:

1) don't lie to your future players about features

2) make a polished game

So kudos to ncsoft for that.

And hopefully to be able to compete with Aion, they will create more interesting MMOs. Besides being polished.

I'm prepared to take this a bit further.

1) publish games in east 1st to get the capital and time for polish

2) make a polished game

And Aion is interesting for a MMO. It wouldn't be for SPRPG, that was what you were trying to say?

Oh and here is a story spelling out exactly what was going on with NCSoft's financials for the exact same period (July-September) in 2008.

Not to hard to have a stellar rebound off of those horrendous numbers now is it?

Actually, I guess I didn't specify what I was trying to say.  Here I say specialize I mean there is no way to customize or take a specific path.  Sure, you can add skills later on..but I mean class specific.  I've only played up to 25, so I might have missed something.  Surely by 25 I would have had an option.  To clarify, I'm referring to skills.

Aion's popularity propelled NCsoft to another quarter of triple-digit year-over-year gains. The Korean publisher reported revenues today that were up 112 percent to KRW166 billion ($142 million). Net income during the July-September period soared to KRW46.9 billion ($40 million), a whopping 836 percent year-over-year rise. "

Straight from the horses mouth, not bad for a Korean game.

Most of the ex-WoW players in my guild said they will never go back to that kiddy game ever again. They mentioned they prefer a more challenging game where you arent spponfed levels and epic gear. I guess when this very site surveyed its MMO players and WoW was rated as having the worst community of any current MMO they were completely right :)_)

Also have fun with that Asian Cash Shop that WOW is introducing HAHAHAHAHa ... Fail game is fail.

WoW this guy is trashing WoW when NC is practically sponsering all the gold sellers and bots in Aion that's some funny stuff right there.  Not to mention he actually thinks this game is challenging lol.  Another funny thing is him calling WoW the worst community when i keep reading from this site and other sites that the Aion community is even worse the WoW's.  funny how people see things different huh op?   I bet you think NC won't introduce a Cash Shop into Aion, guess you never seen the COH/COV game's cash shop?   Don't worry your locust guild will migrate to the next game that comes out leaving Aion to die.

WOW has more RMT than any MMO combined, you might need to take those blinders off to see it. And now with their "Asian" style cash shop they are really turning F2P title - Graphically and Community wise their already there lol
