I love this game. It's beautiful, it's fun. But it's not fun when u get killed due to laggyness. So I have to quit as I'm not enjoying it anymore.

Yeah, I've backed off playing it, too, for the same reason. The rubberbanding and lag are insane. I've been half-way dead before the game updated and I realized something was attacking me and already got in 5 shots. Bad enough in PvE... but in PvP that could be lethal. So... yeah. 

Hmnm, I've run into occasional bouts of lag in the main cities, but out in the wild I've not hit any.

Haven't been in any big fights either, so perhaps I'll run into it more there.

The PVP in the Abyss sometimes got bad too.

(AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH no lag target.....AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH)

It kinda weird for me;  I only lag when I'm in a group, and then I get the rubberbanding and d/c.  Outside of a group I don't lag at all.  Doesn't matter how many people are on the screen...happens to some of my friends that live downt he street too.

I havnt had a substantial problem with lag (outside the main cities and a monstrous zerg on a castle) since open beta.

Its a smooth game for most of the PVE/PvP Ive been in.

No problem here with the lag.. Except when my anti-virus start but again I almost don't notice it.

 They have a huge acknowledged problem with Time Warner cable customers right now. No solution even after a week. In the closed and part of the open beta, it was with Comcast. I could not walk 5 feet without rubberbanding and spells took 30+seconds to cast. 

Its NCSOFT so, there will be virtually no communication, the problem will take a very long time to fix, and vicious fanbois will attack you for complaining, so be warned. 

Havent been in big lag since Headstart event. small spikes here and there but its to be expected since, well, the server isnt next door.. :D

No I'm not serious.. hahaha.. I played warhammer b4 and it's not as laggy as this.

Good catch. This really takes the cake.

I experienced almost unplayable lag for a entire week. Fortunately it's better now. I got killed once last night because of rubber banning. I've not tried it today though.

ROFL, that "could" explain the lag. Try using proxy service like all oceanic people use to get a decent 300 ping. Try lowerping, gamepath, smoothping etc..

Latest update. Ncsoft is offering EU server to play. BTW, according to Ncsoft, EU servers are hosted in Europe.

Actually I'm positive I read somewhere that EU servers are hosted in NA.

It's a known problem in the game if any of you read the technichal support boards, hundreds probably thousands of people have lag so bad the game freezes for 30 seconds at a time.  It's truly unbearable, I myself am using a 3rd party program to circumvent the problem.

Actually I'm positive I read somewhere that EU servers are hosted in NA.

Frankfurt, Germany.

No official to backup, but my ping is 47-100ms. The servers can't be in NA unless they're using somekind of weird proxy inside their own infrastructure.

There isn't any official confirmation, that's why I didn't post a link, but if server downtime/ petition times are anything to go by (aka US timezone), I'd bet they're maintained in the US.

Well, I wanted to play in China servers and did ask to transfer my account there But i was offers EU servers. So I'm going to give it a try.

I decided to leave aion too. The lag was a factor but its the bots that i couldn't deal with. Seems a lot of people are backing off from the game too.

For me:
Constant crashes durring sieges? - yes, that's a pain.
Lag? Not at all.

Sorry to tell you, but its not the game, its your computer.  I have no lag, no rubber banding and most of my settings are jacked on high.  Just upgrade your machine to spec or go back to a game that does not require much in the way of graphics.

Aion only requires a standard machine to run the game without lag. So, unless shal.ffxi is running a computer more than 5 years old, i very much doubt its his machine. Have a look around aionsource, you'll see many posts from people with top rigs lagging to death, especially during fortress battles. So i've got to disagree with your suggestions to shal.ffxi, upgrading his PC, unless its very old, will not promise a better performance.

This is the same reason I stopped playing WAR. Why do developers make games they know their servers and clients can't handle?
