Anyone know if there will be any PVE servers? Having tried out PVP servers on a few other games im hoping Aion isnt just one big gank fest. |

You will know when gankers are about -- a message will display in the zone that a rift has opened.
The PvP and PvE is intertwined in this game. Ganking won't be too prevalent, but it will exist. If you stay out of the Abyss you'll be able to get by without getting into too many PvP situations, if that's your fancy.
I don't believe there are any PvE servers, sorry. I don't think that would work in this game. - |

As far as this goes its PvE until lvl 25+ where you go to PvPvE zones in the Abyss. So every server will have PvP after 25 as thats just the way they designed the game in the other countries that are out. |

Aion does not need this server separation as it is developed to catter to both audiences. Abyss is based on full PvP, but you can actually level to 50 and getting gear without ever stepping in it. However it is possible to invade enemy maps, but this is restricted in the following ways (preventing the retarded gankfest and camping you see in other MMOs that need this PvP / PvE server distinction): - To get into an enemy map, you need to teleport through a rift, avaiable in your maps, but with the following restrictions: -> They appear only once every few hours; - Besides that, when you are into enemy territory, after you reach a certain number of kills you will become "wanted" - your position will be known to all in the map and they will receive extra rewards for killing you - it seems that is a buff. No camping ;)
IMO these mechanics make the PvP experience outside the Abyss actually FUN. PvP for me is something fair, I don't call raping players 20 levels below you and camping their respawns (fortunately obelisks are always inside towns) PvP and Aion doesn't feature this kind of idiot PvP outside of the Abyss. Although there are Abyss gear, if you plan to PvE, the PvE gear is better suited for PvP as their stats are better. The PvP gear obtainable via Abyss Points are weaker than their PvE counterpart, although it features things like % of extra damage and damage reduction against Player Characters. |

More folks will pay to play PVE. Then to pay to be Gnaked. |

As far as I know...MOST of the PvP happens in designated PvP areas. Not so much just PvP running rampant around the world. That is how I understand it anyway. |

People quit making topics like these. Any small amount of reading about this game would have showed you that pvp is a huge part of the game. Play the game you like and quit trying to change other ones into that game. You want choices in a game? Then play that game. |

Well its the the no.1 MMO in asia over taking WoW, so it seems to be doing fine. Also If your scared of some PvP in a PvP oriented game maybe you should play something else. Aion Gives you Wings!!! |

If you had read my post before going into PVP mode you would have seen that is exactly what im doing. And we are not talking Asia we are talking how it will be accepted in EU and NA. |

A legendary tale of three factions at each others throats! You question if they will add in a PVE server... The entire game is based around the conflict between the Eylos, Asmodians, and the Dragon people who inhabit the Abyss. It just wouldn't make any sense at all to have a PVE server when over half of the games content is involving PVP. Edit : I find that PVP servers in WoW (NA servers) Are far more populated than the PVE servers... |

Exactly. Its to the point now that people go into a new game and automatically try to mold it into a game they just came from and claim to be bored of yet want the same game. The game will do fine. EU and NA are the secondary market and what we throw in is icing on the cake. Believe it or not its not always all about America and what we want.
This is a PVP game and its a big part of it. Its just the way it is and ganking will be a part of it. What are they supposed to do? Make a server with the abyss just not there at all? Well hell that would be a hoot wouldnt it. Just because you do not like the concept doesnt mean others do not. ANd right now it appears more than enough are. |

Tell that to World of Warcraft =P Nah, I agree with you though. Server rulesets, from a lore perspective, don't make sense. |

That is in no way, shape or forms a reflection on how well Aion will do in the West... It remains to be seen, and we will know a few months into retail release how well it does. From what I have read though it doesn't seem like the PvP will be a complete gankfest, but again,we will see... ------------------------- |

To put it in perspective it would be like a game about World War two being only a PVE game. I like how you are so negative without even seeing the community or anything, have you considered the checks and balances they have in place to prevent ganking? I don't know why you are afraid, it seems like this game really isn't for you. It will have plenty of subs without the people who don't like PVP, because after all its a PVP based game. Not every PVPer likes to just run around and kill lower level players without a challenge... there are a lot of us out there who actually like honorable challenging combat. Most of us are from the UO era but hey we still exsist. Generalizing is foolish. Edit: There is NO WAY they could add in PVE servers because of the way the game is MADE. If you look into things like the end game and how you earn items, its mostly from fighting players. |

It does not, nor did I say it would... That the thing I do not understand where you are coming from... the game is a PVP game... the entire basis of the game is to PVP... the Endgame is mostly PVPing... They would have to pretty much redesign most of the game from the ground up. |

I am by no means opposed to pvp in a game i just dont want it forced upon me when im wanting to just quest and explore. |

From my understanding only at endgame is it really "forced" there are ways to avoid most of the PVP up until 25 and i've heard that there are alternate zones to level in besides the abyss you would just level slower. So from what I've gathered you could avoid most of the "ganking" that you would have experienced in WoW, its a lot more limited and it will happen a lot less. The only times when PvP might get annoying is when you are leveling in the Abyss and trying to solo. Everyone groups in the Abyss. Edited for space.
On a side note, PvE content is still being added in by the truck load, and they are constantly working to adjust the PVP to balance it, I've heard they're putting in new safe guards to prevent ganking, I'm not entirely sure what they are but i've heard a lot of people who love to gank have been complaining. So thats probably a good thing. I personally love PvE in a game, but I also enjoy the PVP aspects, it adds in a lot of replay value. |

What exactly are the losses during PvP (when you die)? What are the gains to winning?
