You may love Aion, but I love it even more! Apparently this game has a great fun factor, a poll on the Aion beta forums (you know, with people that actually are playing the game, not in a forum where everyone is welcome to troll it without even playing it for five seconds) show that over 90% of the voters will or already bought Aion or aren't sure yet, but believe they will. http://betaboards.aiononline.com/showthread.php?t=7865&page=5 the poll is here for those of you who have beta access. Sure, this poll can't be a solid fact but it might be shocking for some that the majority that try it seriously actually enjoy the game. |

Originally posted by EricDanie Yes i saw that poll as well. I find the game refreshing after what has been released in the last two years or so. I enjoyed the art style and the so called "grind" others find so generic. My only concern is how well the game will be received in NA due to the heavy PVP content that is said to start at the mid levels. Im not sure of the percentage numbers but a lot of folks do not care for PVP and from what ive read its an intregal part of the game beginning at level 25 or so. |

Keep in mind that one of the reasons they made the textures they did was so the game could run on lower end machines, especially those that the pc bhangs (spelling?) might have. Flying is not useless and you will find yourself picking and choosing when you use it, especially in pvp. I find it very interesting to note whe players have been using it. I imagine in certain scenarios, using it just when you know or feel that your opponents attacks are "up" might come in handy, especially if they don't have any more flight time and/or are melee. Not every game should be going for AoC graphics and I applaud this decision. And I will qualify that statement by saying I'm a bit of a graphics whore. However, I'm also not so nitpicky that I can't recognize and buy into the reasons they make certain graphcal decisions. The game and the game world looks great. In any game I can scour the textures and see where they start to pixelate but why? That's like going to a play and then getting on stage so you can see all the nuts nad bolts and staples keepign the stage together. As far as the game being a new flavor of the same stuff, you are right to a point. However, that is the game they said they were making. And that's fine with me. As I was telling another individual, there is enough different that it is NOT the same because if it was then I would just stick with my same games. I can't really speak to the open world comment except to say that many games seem to go this route. I mean, it's not Vanguard, that much I get. Still, it's not archlord either.
To Tiitha: a game like this speaks to many people. The pvp people are interested the pvp game. i know I am. However, the hardcore pvp people will probably be dissapointed as it is NOT a hardcore pvp game. Now, the people who like to roleplay are on the exact opposite end of the spectrum. There is lore and story and a beautiful world to play in but they must understand that a significant sector of the game is pvp oriented and this must be taken into account. This is not to say that one is more important than another but I can assure you that when more pvp oriented players read things about emotes and housing and outfits and story then they probably have the same reaction. It really is more about what parts of the game resonate with the player.

Cool, thanks for the info. I figured it was widely used, but it's hard to say if players will really use it or not. In FFXI, I remember NA players on PC consistently using food and then when NA PS2 players joined the servers, it took some of them awhile to catch on. Hopefully Aion finds a well nourished gaming community... ;^_^ |
