The first and foremost is our focus on adult gamers. By adult I essentially mean gamers that understand common-sense etiquette, are not offended by general adult conversation, and are willing to contribute to a community. Our legion type is "casually hardcore" because casual guilds in today's games sit around not doing anything together. We are flexible, but organized as well. Think of it like a family vacation. A lot of careful planning goes into ensuring an enjoyable time, but sometimes you just have to go ahead and get drunk on the coconut rum. For more information please see the vision.

Rules are as follows

1. We enforce a strict 18 and over policy.* Please do not apply if you are under our age limit.
2. Use common sense.
3. That's all.

We all have rules we need to deal with: what we can wear to work, how fast we can drive, etc. We're an 18+ legion so we're assuming you know basic social etiquette. The general method to measure our tolerance is by asking yourself, "Would I say this in a crowded bar with my friends." Swearing is allowed. Sexual innuendos are allowed. Racial jokes, and fighting will generally result in an *** kicking.

 

To apply, please register at AionElysium.com and click "Apply to Legion". We are taking applications, but early application does not guarantee membership in the first phase. We ask that if you are not invited that you remain patient as we gather resources to grow.

You may sign up at the site even you're not interested in joining the legion. You can even be a filthy Asmodian, we don't mind. AionElysium.com is a great place for info and conversation no matter who you are.

Questions

Are you pvp or pve? Hardcore or casual?

Although these extremes may classify some players, they do not accurately describe most. Most players enjoy varying amounts of both pvp and pve content. Therefore, Elysium will actively engage all content that is offered by Aion: The Tower of Eternity.

The hardcore vs casual debate is even more convoluted. Each player has a different idea of what the meaning of hardcore or casual is. Most commonly hardcore legions/guilds are those that play frequently and achieve high ranks or progression. Casual legions/guilds play to simply enjoy the game and socialize. As with the pvp vs pve classification, many legions/guilds cater to the extremes of this issue. Hardcore guilds tend to treat the game as a business. Casual guilds tend to treat the game like a chat room. Elysium is somewhere in the middle in what I call the "singles night" model. When someone goes to singles night they generally expect three things:

1. Have fun.

2. Meet interesting people.

3. Get things done.

Despite the blatant innuendo, this model ensures that players get the most out of the game.

Why create a countdown widget before we have a release date?

It took two days to code the countdown widget. It's not the simple crappy javascript that most countdown widgets use. Most forums don't allow javascript and many free hosts don't allow it either. So we set up an uber little hamster with l337 skillz with a direct link to our server. Every night he updates the image to display the days left until the launch of Aion: The Tower of Eternity.*

* Elysium does not employ slave hamster labor. There is, in fact, a cron job and php script that edits the image each night.

What's up with all this "stuff"?

Imagine complaining that after getting a long massage you got "a little extra." I don't understand why anyone would complain about getting more than they asked for. These features are here for entertainment, and to make Aion life a bit easier. If you don't like one or more of them then simply don't use them. We here at Elysium don't believe in using our supreme mental powers to force people into clicking our links.

Isn't all this stuff happening too soon?

Would you complain if you got your paycheck early this week? The truth of the matter is, things such as the countdown timer took 2 days to code and waiting until the last minute would be chaos. Besides, who can say this:

How will the initial 30 members be chosen for legion level 1?**

• Loot distribution will also not be decided on until more info is attained.
  • update: recent info about abyss points suggests that loot distribution may not be an issue, but if necessary a looting method will be devised for pve content.

* We have made particular exceptions for exceptional members falling just below 18. These are special exceptions that are not often made.

• There are 3 level :
  • The first level costs 135.000 Quina, allows 30 members, and a random crest is selected.
  • The second level costs 845.000 Quina, requires 10 members, allows 60 members, and you can select the crest.

Very cool.  Check out the web site: aion-elysium.imfo and register.  Be sure to put your application in the forums as we'll be using that as a sudo-roster for the time being.

Sorry to neglect the mmorpg community.  I have been very busy working on the web site, podcast, etc.  I barely have time to keep up at AionSource.com some days.  The origianl post is fully updated with the new links and services.  The web site has completely changed so please change any bookmarks you may have had.  Thank you.

Web site looks very cool.  Lots of  features, I can tell you put a lot of work into it, good job! ^_^
