Anyone remember Lineage 2? Remember open beta? Remember the OBVIOUS BOTS?! Remember everyone spamming on the forums? Remember how 3 months into Lineage 2 they were still ignoring us? Remember the KISS/LOVE individuals who only spoke in mandarin pingyin killing everyone who came near them? |

God made women because mens brains are broken. |
I suspect just like Lineage II, Aion will have hordes of gold farmers. All these games have gold farmers. You're just going to have to get use to them. They are simply part of the genre now. |

Farmers in Aion won't ever have the influence they have in L2. it's game design and features make it way harder. Lineage II is the proper game for farmers: Repetitive long grind with free pvp, yes, but with consequences, which makes it quite easy for bots/farmers to go around and make money, the high dependance on money in L2 in order to do anything makes them more successful, plus the entirely player based economy, with no binds...everything can be obtained by buying adena in ebay. Aion sure offers innovative ways, and some others that have already been seen, in order to make it harder for RMT companies and bots: Aion has a non negative consequences FFA pvp area, bots cant walk freely around the best pve zones. 2 out of the 3 kinds of gear (the 2 best ones) are not approached through killing mobs or money, draconian gear is obtained from the mobs in the abyss, bots can't go there for effective farming, cause they'd get ganked in no time, and abyssal gear is obtained only through pvp. A pair of old interviews state that mobs grow stronger as you kill them, they will keep spawning stronger and stronger to the point they would kill you if you don't change zone, those wouldn't be good news for bots, pitifuly, we haven't heard about this lately, so it might have been dropped. What Im trying to say is that Aion will have the same RMT problems as any other successful game, AoC, WoW, WAR or whatever. Can't count to see something like L2 since it was a special game which made it quite easy for RMT, its not that NCsoft didn't care, its that they, imho, were overwhelmed cause the game was a bots paradise (source code was leaked) and NCNA wasn't big enough to take care of that issue back then. Right now I have a pair of friends in Luna (new L2 server) and they are telling me NC is doing some mass bans, many "factor" people getting banned due to reports. |

Well, As long as the GM'S are quick or banning bots, or the Game Programmers, think in a system that will not allow the usage of bots, guess it will be partially ok.

Originally posted by Teala I know, but I swear to God that NCSoft (the Lineage 2 team at least) has a contract with the adena farmers. It's a well known fact that people get flamed for mentioning about bots. |

All mmo's are gonna have "gold farmers" so its inevitable. In regards to the ineage 2 reference I beleive I read in one of these articles that they've learned from that and are supposedly taking steps to prevent it in Aion |

There is a difference between farmers and what lineage 2 had.. Why? Because they CRIPPLED the gameplay. The entire economy was trashed.. Look at games like WoW.. Are there bots? Sure.. Did they effect the economy the same way as Lineage 2? No... No.. A thousand times no. But unless you played Lineage 2 during its bot phase.. And it looks like most of you did.. Don't even KID that your going to compare it other games and say things like "Da... Every-game has farmers" |

thats the thing the L2 devs have a saying " we want the players to make the world there own" ie if you want to bot you can bot.... i have had many devs tell me this when complaining to them. So if they have the same attitude in Aion then were screwed |

Alright guys, lets wait for private servers to come up. I for one will play this game 3 months tops because by then the game is going to be crippled by farmers. |

Ok, well for one, that is not all true. At least when taken at face value. NC has always said, if you want to report bots go through channels otherwise do not post on the forums. But what do people do? They post on the forums. So they get banned. As of now there is a "bot thread" that if you want to make special mention of bots you can. Otherwise "don't post on the forums or the thread will get locked. As far as bots in game that is an iffy one. I've reported bots and lo and behold, within a few minutes they have been removed. I have also reported bots only to log in the next day and still see them. Hate that. Then again a few more days and they are gone. I have also learned that there is one bot train that has been running a few weeks in MOS so there it is. I've also just learned (and am saddened to say) that an old clannie of mine now bots. Of course this was from another person so he has not had a chance to defend himself. Still this other person is pretty trustworthy. I think any game that promotes hardcore competition will get people who need to win at any cost. Look at pro sports. So many people taking steroids even though they know that if they are caught they will be banned. But they do it anyway becasue the rewards are worth it to them. So in short, they do ban bots, it is a mystery to me as to who in the end gets banned because it seems so uneven, and don't talk about in on the forums unless you put it in the bot thread or they will lock the post. Aion will have bots. Might not have as many. Might have pro farmers though (like old L2 did) if the bots can't do the job. Remember, RMT is huge business and those involved will do what they can to make money at it. If they need to hire real people so be it. There is not a popular Triple A game that does not have RMT. Even WoW, one of the easiest games to lvl and get money has it. |
