As she charged into battle, they could hear her warcry "Carebear in Crisis"

I played DR when you needed to be invited to join- I must say it was about as interesting as a Cabbage - a very dull one.

Imagine my surprise to discover the Cabbage lives on!

What is the appeal- surely there are better F2P games out now? Aren't there?

Dungeon Runners is still around!  It's also changed a lot since early last year (when invites were required).

We've added ton's of new content and features in the past 12 months.  New dungeons, tons of items, a bunch of skills, unique pvp, better free player support and more!

As for better F2P games... I guess that depends on what you're looking for.  If you want to have some good, old-fashioned hack & slash fun, this is the game for you.  Try it again and see how it compares to cabbage!

Ahh   It's a bummer that you don't like my favorite game.

Like Steve said, the game has changed dramatically from a year ago and tons of stuff has been added.  That being said, the core game play is still the same - go into an instanced dungeon and kill a bunch of monsters a la Diablo.  If you're looking for a fast action, wickedly funny and sarcastic hack-n-slash genre game, you won't find anything better (it's one of Massively's Top 5 F2P MMOs, btw)!  If you're looking for a f2p full fledged MMO with crafting, an economy, auction houses, etc.., this isn't the game for you.  It's just a matter of personal preference.

Check it out again.  It's free and has a small installation footprint.  If you dig it, great!  If not, hopefully you find something you like better

Uh, has it changed over the past years?

I think like 3 new skills have been implemented and 1 new dungeon.

You can't be serious.  The game has changed dramatically since billing went live in February 2007.  Here are just some of the changes:

  • PVP
  • Advertising
  • Hundreds of new quests
  • 3 new dungeons and a revamp to HDoL (over 60 zones, total)
    • Frump's Misfortune
    •  Balzack's Burrow
    • Ratusputin's Gulag
  • Several new skills
  • Dual Wielding
  • Revamped movement system
  • Revamped boss fights
  • Tons of new art, particle effects and items
  • Voice Chat
  • Multiple char support
  • Classless RPG system, including the ability to respec at will
  • Permanent waypoints
  • Difficulty slider
  • etc...

Here's a link to the patch  notes since March, 2007.  A ton of work has been accomplished in just about a year by a very small team:

I can't help but notice Turnipz just hangs out in off-beat online game threads and makes comments that show he/she/it doesn't really play the games.

if you're reading this, I recommend http://forumwarz.com for ya.
