    • that isnt very impressive.. i havent heard of anyone getting scared playing a fps/mmo... sure the focus sounds interesting in that your character acts more humanish.. and cover sounds nice, hopefully they add some sort of grenade to void cover or something...but god the combat animation sucks. not impressed at all by the animation hopefully come release its much better.. but right now it looks like HL1 shooting.. without being as good as HL1...

    • First off No sound in Right Earphone on this video. Second, you don't really strafe you just run sideways. Third it just looks like run click pew pew.

    • I think one of the main problems with Tabula Rasa was that the bonus you got from being in cover was so small, it was practically negligible. Here, it looks like cover will be a big part of the game, and the AI looks really good, it could easily make each encounter unique.
  • Shivah(posted Fri Aug 08 2008)
    • Wow, people sure can infer alot from a 5 min demo of someones first time playing. Especialy the insights into the noncombat elements. Wish I were so insightfull as to know length and breadth of a game from so brief a glance, alas tho I'm a mere mortal. Looks good to me!
  • xTwiSteDx(posted Fri Aug 08 2008)
    • AI is good, i'll give it that - however all i'm seeing is Tabula Rasa 1.5. They could have done so much more with the combat system, for example damage is dependent on where your crosshair is pointing at the time, although this is now totally impossible with the auto fire ability, that will totally suck any immersion from the game. Totally disapointed with this although i didn't expect much in the first place.

    • I'm having trouble deciding if I like the concept or not. Too early to tell I guess. I'll admit, when I first heard about it.... I had something quite different in mind.

    • I just getting into stargate , but so far im loving this game

    • It's Not EQ or EQ2, nor SWG. It has possibilities.
  • necton(posted Tue Aug 05 2008)
    • haganah wow is like eq and daoc so why dont you play one of them
  • necton(posted Tue Aug 05 2008)

  • archisis(posted Mon Aug 04 2008)
    • Not impressed now. Its totally different than what I thought it would be. Just another war game bleh!
  • Shlomo(posted Mon Aug 04 2008)
    • Liked the tabula rasa gameplay, just didnt like the way they implamanted it. So if they do this right it might be great. And the animation should be fine when the game gets closer to release.
  • Evolintent05(posted Sun Aug 03 2008)
    • Oh snap! It's Tabula Rasa 2!
  • ive82syko(posted Sun Aug 03 2008)
    • I was hoping the combat system would be something great. Seems to me you just spend most of the time hiding. Graphics looks good, but the animation seems clumsy. There's no fluent movement, its just run to object and bam you're in cover. That was a human character? Why is he so bulky lookng? I thought it was a orc at first Oo. Also it looks silly when you're running. I kept expecting the lower half of his body to run off on its own. Man another disappointing MMO, when is someone going to step up to the plate and create something amazing. Here's hoping Bioware pulls something off. As for stargate MMO, not my cup of tea.
  • grndzro(posted Thu Jul 31 2008)
    • From what I saw Solo play in many situations will be very difficult, as you would be overrun from the AI. It looks awsome for an alpha. BTW I don't mind the auto aim because you need to pay attention to your cover, the map and enemy movements, worrying about hitting the hitbox would be a bit over the top.
  • teknician(posted Thu Jul 31 2008)
    • Just posting a reminder to the people obviously not reading the comments and trashing SGW based on this video- this game is in ALPHA stages. That means it is not close to done yet. Mechanics and graphics will get implemented and tuned much beyond what is shown here. Alpha-beta stages are for testing what works and what doesn't. For all you know, what you are complaining about seeing in the video just might be an issue brought up by testers and changed in the future. This video is just to give a peek at the development progress.
  • CapnRaccoon(posted Thu Jul 31 2008)
    • That battle system looks fairly epic; This game seems to have a fair few things going for it, and that battle system just gave me another reason to want it.
  • Talemire(posted Thu Jul 31 2008)
    • I'm not feelin this... Although the game has decent graphics, the controls look wack, and you're constantly trying to "get cover" all the time. With a game like that, you shouldn't even have time to mess around with a cursor. Sucks.
  • Nirwyl(posted Thu Jul 31 2008)
    • Love Stargate, and the combat system looks like it might be interesting. But please work on the combat stance, it doesn't look quite natural.
  • bobothewizar(posted Wed Jul 30 2008)
    • Did you hear him say that even though they were not in a party both people get experience.... Nice now when it opens up i can go around and tap everyone mobs to "steal" experience off them.... Bad bad thing to implement.
  • Shreddi(posted Wed Jul 30 2008)
    • Ai looks incredible. The fighting with panic makes it more real life like. For those who want push button fighting there are more than enough of them out there. There needs to be more of a fps feel to the new games comming out. Something new and very popular. Maybe it might attract more of the fps game players and thats huge.
  • jircris(posted Wed Jul 30 2008)
    • for them who are bitching its called skills. You need to have skill to play games like this. I love how its set up makes it haeder then most fps
  • Daarken(posted Wed Jul 30 2008)
    • Interface and fire mechanic look very disappointing. Another aspect of "we forgot user friendliness" Bummer too was actually looking forward to this game, But after Galaxies and Conan we should know now game companies deliver one thing without fail, empty promises.
  • nikola631(posted Wed Jul 30 2008)
    • The panic system is the hit to dodge ratio with your weapons and also when u panic you get hit alot more and u miss alot.
  • Stradden(posted Wed Jul 30 2008)
    • Puuk: Way to take what I said entirely out of context. When I say that I'm panicing, I'm not saying that it's taking any control away from me. The popint that I'm making is that the combat is intense and engaging, not that they take control out of the hands of the players. One wonders how you were able to make that leap.
  • Puuk(posted Wed Jul 30 2008)
    • So panicking is a game feature? Ummm, yeah, because taking player contriol away from the player is always a fun and great thing /sarcasm. I can appreciate trying new things in MMOs, but even the person showcasing this game sounds bored. Shame.
  • Solude(posted Wed Jul 30 2008)
    • Huh I thought Tabula Rasa has already been released... huh :p
  • Wewa(posted Wed Jul 30 2008)
    • n00b
  • IAmMMO(posted Wed Jul 30 2008)
    • That combat is pretty lacklustre. You spend the whole combat time worrying about getting cover just tog to get focus to b able to fight. The pace of the combat is like bullet time. That want get any seasoned gamer panicking in a PVE fight as it far to slow. I was hoping this game wouldn't be another numpty auto aim click feast. The graphics look like they've been done so th game can be cross plateform, rather than being Pc only and pushing it to the max on what Pc's can do. The PS3 and Xbox360 is already eating the Pc's dust when it comes to raw computing power in CPU and GPU and memory bandwidth.
  • levsix(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • The auto-aim combat is a huge, huge disappointment and makes me want to vomit. They specifically stated "we don't want it to be like an FPS." Well you don't have to make it fricking so mind numbing that a 90 year old palsy could fight a heated machine gun battle with their tongue.
  • jke2(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • this seens like a fps which i love it. i hope is alike so we can play it with our skill
  • HumbleHobo(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • Interesting concepts. I don't get what the Focus bar is supposed to do, just make you lose control when it gets low? Once again, we'll have to wait and see. It's got the words "Stargate" in it, so it will have the hype, but will it live up to it? Will this innovative combat system be more like AoC, or will it actually be an improvement on standard MMO mechanics? Only time will tell.
  • HiGHPLaiNS(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • Just watching this video reminds me alot like Tabula Rasa with a Stargate Theme to it. This could be good and bad. I will keep myself in check though, way too early to predict where this game is going.
  • Soara(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • I really liked it compared to other games. Tabula Rasa's is a hard to beat, but keep in mind that Stargate Worlds is not even in beta stages. I can't wait to see what guns are like!
  • soponyai(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • I think it looks nice, I can't wait to try this system myself. Sure it had bugs and glitches, it's an alpha. As for the guys that whine about: I don't think anyone cares whether you'll play it or not. You are not the man who will make or brake the game. So might as well go and play whatever you like to play.
  • Wardrop(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • They could have at least gone with the combat mechanics of Tabula Rasa, but no they went point and click... Thanks for screwing up Stargate and turning it into a turn based Bore fest. This game could have had fast paces combat heavy on the fps mechanics with vehicles, air battles, space battles, Exploration though the gate with choices that could have stubbed the competition. But no, we get the above video.. don't fall asleep watching it.
  • redriver(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • ok after watchin' this video I think the game needs 2 things: realistic models and somethin' that will at least remind us of SG. this time there wasn't even any stargate in sight. so I was like is this a new stormtrooper game where a guy runs with a giant gold spoon that shoots lazers? don't get me wron'. graphix and UI look great and I like the combat/terrain. but. it's not stargatey/iconic enough. if that's a human then where the hell did he get his gear from? I'm yet to see a guy runnin' in standard military uniform with standard military weapons. like I said. they need more stuff from SG tv show we can relate to.. otherwise it will look just like any other action sci-fi game out there with a stargate in it.
  • wanderingjew(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • @vesavius: We have to wait and see. And your character can hide behind the wall and barrels. Maybe I can just hide there until the skirmish is over. =p
  • Felle(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • looks like quite a promising game.-
  • daeandor(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • considering this is pre-alpha, I'd say it looks pretty good. Apparently it is in "friends and family" stage, so I'm guessing there are very few testers yet. Heck, comic-con might have been the largest group of people ever in this game yet. If this were open beta or just pre-release, then I'd be posting comments like those below: meh, stiff animations, bad UI, bad controls, etc...
  • hpak(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • Geez....guys.....like so many have said....THIS IS AN ALPHA!!! From what they have done so far, it's pretty interesting the direction they are going with the combat. As they move along, I am sure the rest of the things like graphics, physics & scenarios will flesh out. I am actually glad that they are working on the game mechanics before fleshing the graphics and all the other fluff. I would rather play a game with great handling/combat/AI with a somewhat mediocre graphics than play a game with great graphics & everything else broken. Only time will tell how things will turn out, but for now, AS AN ALPHA STAGE PRODUCT, Stargate has some great potential.
  • chaintm(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • Interactive AI is a huge plus in these worlds for sure. This definitly has promise, thou in alpha so to early to judge, but they are definitly on the right track.
  • jackeccs(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • they got a lot of work ahead of them.
  • ArcAngel3(posted Tue Jul 29 2008)
    • You know, that looks pretty fun to me, and I love Stargate! ^_^
  • redcap036(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
    • I think the game looks great and I luv this style of combat gameplay, defiantly will take more of an interest in this game now. As for the negative nellys of our community, I don't think these people actually play any games, I think they just go around acting like know it all's, whining and complaining about games because they think it makes them look cool or something, there just losers, ignore them. as for the stargate game it looks fantastic and like it will be a lot of fun to play, here's hoping the dev's don't stuff it up and it's released very soon at a reasonable and cheap price.
  • observer(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
    • Finally a game with combat that requires you to think. No hack-n-slash here. This would have been better presented from a dev though, it's obvious Jon Wood was a newb. ;)
  • Mysk(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
    • Such a negative community that exists here. I generally hate it when people use the excuse, but keep in mind that this is ALPHA. What you see is placeholder material for the basic mechanics of the game. In paying attention to what matters in this video, I like where it's going. I'm sure that combat mechanics are easier to show than exploration, but I too hope at some point to see some about the exploration in the title. So far though I like what they have in mind for combat. :)
  • Vexe(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
    • HERE COMES THE FLAME PARADE (also, I liked it)
  • jonaylward(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
    • Good lord, those are hands down the worst animations I've ever seen. I love how Jon's character strafes by twisting 90* at the hip, and running. Couple that with gameplay that can in no way, shape, or form possibly hope to capture the essence of the movie or the series (which was exploration and interaction heavy, and combat light-to-nonexistent), and you've got a recipe for Cheyenne Mountain to just quit throwing money at the title, and just give it all to Brad McQuaid, who really knows how to 'blow' 40 million dollars!
  • Tamalan(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
    • "Everyone should check out Darkfall online" Lol, and see what? at least these guys HAVE an alpha build they are prepared to show online, which actually demonstrates a working UI and real gameplay. Darkfall fanboys crack me up :)
  • Kvasir_029(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
    • In regards to admiralnlson, dokah, ZtyX and asfaraslarry you guys do know this game is still in Alpha right? Not to mention the fact that they used a video camera to record the game off the screen and its a member of the press just learning to play the game. Anyone who judges a game poorly by looking at a video from its Alpha stage is just beyond ridiculous. I almost have to laugh at all the people who come here to whine about stuff thats not exactly like they want it to be. Oh and as far as we've been told, there is mob tabbing so check your facts before posting stuff you know nothing about. I think the video looks great for the alpha stage. Definitely some cleaning up to do but so far so good.
  • Copeland(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
    • man i can't wait.. that looks so cool.
  • admiralnlson(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
    • Movement really looks ridiculous.
  • dokah(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
    • Wow this looks f'in terrible
  • ZtyX(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
    • That camera system looks soooo bad. I will not play a game that doesn't have a decent mouse controlled camera angle like in normal games. The world looks beautiful. The combat looks very generic and not in real time. Real time combat is the next thing. Everyone should check out Darkfall online. Stargate is a cool world and a cool story. Im looking forward to seeing and playing it. But, this looks like more of the same old thing. Go Darkfall online.
  • TonyK(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)

    • Can't really judge the animations. It's pre-alpha
  • Virgazone(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
    • Movements and animation look stiff...I love stargate though.
  • demented669(posted Mon Jul 28 2008)
