From the IRC in #stargate-worlds topic: How to access SGW forum: start - run - type in: %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\ - ok - open up hosts file in notepad, add in: 69.16.140.10 forums.stargateworlds.com - save the file - refresh sgw forums

The websites are still there, but name resolution is currently down.

I have tried to do this but I still get the same error on the forums website. I added the IP and site name just like you said right below "localhost", saved the file, and tried to go to the webpage and nothing happens.

Any suggestions?

What operating system? As far as i know, that should work for most newer windows systems... (ex: XP, Vista, 7).

I am using XP, here is what it looks like (blocked out the IP for localhost, not sure if someone could use that for something):

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

XXX.X.X.X localhost

Well, the website isn't completely down right now. If you go to Stargateworlds.com right now, you get a very broken webpage with some links that don't work.

I still can't get the forums to work though.

I tried going to the site just now and got nothing. It appears as if the site is still fully down.

If you follow the directions BC posted on page one you can access the forums. They are still there just still having problems.

No, I did exactly what BC said to do and I can't seem to get to the forums still. I don't know what else I need to do or if it is a firewall thing or something.

Also, I don't know if it is just me, but when I got to the stargateworlds.com right now, I no longer get a DNS message. Instead I get this:

I don't know if its just you or not either. But its not happening to me. I just get a generic "there isn't anything here" message when I try to access that site.

Really? I'm not getting the error message any more but I am still just getting a partial site with no images and with links that don't work.

Try refreshing your web browser (deleting the temporary files/cache)

Yeah, its back up.

So I think you guys can stop debating the finer points of IP addresses.
