O'neil was SG-1- hes what made that show a great show.

Thats also why Atlantis is a good show, and not a great show. They don't have O'neil.

Like many many others.. for stargate sg-1 it would definantly have to be O'neil. Every action series needs comedic relief and he was certainly that. When he resigned off the show to spend time with his family i was upset but also agreeable. However it did ruin the series for me and i ceased to follow up on it until its ends. On the side of O'neil, it would have to be Teal'c or however it is spelled.

As for atlantis? It would have to be Beckett. He's the scotty of stargate.

I guess i have to say it's a tie between jack and danny boy for SG1.   I like jack's carefree nature and sarcasm but I also like daniels intelligence as I think he makes the series more interesting overall.  In a way I  kinda feel like daniel is the whole reason stargate even exist.   Without him the show just wasn't the same, I really hated when they took him out for so long (forget which season that was).

For Atlantis, I don't care but mckay just gets on my nerves and I wouldn't miss him if he left the show period.  Maybe if they didn't have him in 95% of all scenes and/or his scenes weren't so long, I'd like him.  As it is now it's like eating chicken everyday, 3 times a day for a whole month, you just get sick of it.  Mckay is really annoying and only funny 50% of the time.    They really over do it with him....sorry I just had to say this.

anyway, sheppard is my favorite on atlantis because he's so down-to-earth, cool headed and real.  He's also a bit carefree but at the same time when it's time for business he never lets you down.   I like that he likes to be the man for the job unlike o'neil who practically has to be begged or forced into being the man.    Of course teyla is kinda hot too (when she has makeup on, lol)...but that's not a good enough reason for me to like her for the sake of the show or over other more interesting characters.  It's always nice to watch her though, I think they need to focus more on her people, it's history and her untapped powers.    Teal'c was great for an alien, but teyla has so much more potential to make the Atlantis squad drastically different than the SG squads.   An alien with powers would go a long way for the atlantis team.   

OH, while i'm here, does anyone hate how they keep killing off the doctors on both shows.   I really liked beckett and janice....they have never been able to find a good replacement for them, just ain't the same.   I'm not looking forward to having carter come to atlantis next season either....I think that will just spark more scenes to include "rodney"/samantha conflicts rather than "rodney"/zelanka (however you spell his name).

Yeah, I liked Urgo too. For anyone who didn't know, it he was played by Dom De Luise, the director Peter De Luise's Dad.

My favorite in SG-1 is Daniel. Haven't even watched Atlantis yet, but I have the DVDs and plan to see it soon.

Someone mentioned Apophis, I hated that guy. He was the Bobby Brown of the system lords. Anubis makes a much better bad guy IMO.

1.Daniel Jackson (he's come a long way since the beginning and has shaped into the best SG character of all time)

2.Jack O'Neil (good ole O'Neil. Always the one to bring the jokes and not take things seriously in a humorous way - loved the episode where he was hitting golf balls into the stargate after reliving the same day so many times - Jackson and him are really on the same level)

3.Samantha Carter (Yeah. She still looks good after all this time >.> )

 

Atlantis

1.Rodney McKay (The hilarious wimpy scientist who is always made fun of and yet takes it on the chin every time - he has been around in the stargate series the longest and deserves most credit out of the rest of the Atlantis group)

2.John Sheppard (Good lead character)

3.Elizabeth Weir (I don't know, but she deserves a vote for having a strong personality as a character)
